Express Kit Monday: Delightful-ly Altered

Hello everyone! Happy Monday! 

This is the last Monday in April. Can you believe it?! We've had so much fun creating with the Delightful Kit this month. I just thought I'd share a couple of altered pieces I created with the kit, as well as some small cards that utilized the "scraps." 

First up is a sticky note holder created from a wooden box I picked up from the dollar bin at the local craft store.

Next, I altered a dollar frame, using a little cotton candy distress stain. (Be sure to check out the new catalog for a wide variety of stain colors. They're great to work with!) The butterflies and trim patterns are stamped in worn lipstick, broken china and tea dye distress inks. The stamps themselves are from the "Be Happy" collection by My Mind's Eye. You can find them in the new catalog. 

Finally, here are a couple of cards made with some scraps. The easel card uses stamps from My Mind's Eye "Be Amazing" collection. (Love the banners and bike!) The thank you note uses the MME "Be Happy" stamps. ("Love" on the first card is also from that set.) The distress inks and both stamp sets can be found in the new catalog as well.

Creative Card Saturday

Another week gone by so fast already. And I don't know about you, but it has been cold here on the East coast lately, like 50-ish degrees. Where did those warm days go? Well, with all the pretty spring collections out there, can always wish for days with the warmer temperatures and the sun, butterflies with the flowers, etc. Am I painting the picture yet on where I'm going with this? We'll I'm thinking along the line of BoBunny's Country Garden collection. As I sat inside with the heat turned on, and I made my card for today, I let the pretty colors and patterns of the patterned paper from this collection help me to wish anyway, for the warm days to return. So for now, I'll have to settle on looking at pretty paper and pictures. For this week, I was challenged to scraplift, umm or should it be "cardlift?", from someone's wonderful card found in the Idea Gallery. So to start things off, I'll show you the original card made by someone else and then my version of that card. Original Card made by Cathie Hollins: My version: "Where flowers bloom......." Creative Friday!

I fell in love with the papers in the April Memory Works Express kit.  They are My Mind's Eye Howdy Doody papers, one of my favorite manufacturers and lines.  I also was thinking banners and this month's challenge to use banners in a project.  Here is what I came up with:

Banners galore!  These photos were the perfect colors for these papers.  I also used some chevron tape from Bella Blvd and some miscellaneous buttons.  I even cut the center out of the background paper to use elsewhere since I love the papers so much.  I also made this little project to hang in my granddaughter's room. 

The paper mache heart came from the craft store and I used a honeycomb stamp from my stash.  The quote stamp came in my order of catalogs and I used a die to cut the hexagon shapes.  Zva bling completes the piece.

Guest Designer Thursday - Amanda Bratu

Welcome back for our final week with Guest Designer Amanda Bratu. Amanda has done an amazing job inspiring us this month! And she has one more project to share. Remember the Prayer book that she share with us on Sunday?  Well today she is going to give us a tutorial on how to create one for ourselves, check it out.....

I love making these little Spiral books and thought I would use it as my “How to” project.

These books are super easy to make.  To start you need any spiral bound index card book, metal or plastic.

Using small metal clippers – clip one end of the spiral off.

Unwind the spiral from the book .

Measure and cut cardstock the same size as the cover of the book and using the cover as a guide punch holes in the cardstock.

Embellish your cardstock to make the New cover.

Simply reattach the New cover to the book by rethreading the spiral.

 To keep the end from coming out of the pages again I tied a coordinating ribbon.  When using a metal spiral the cut end can be bent in again.

Pray Spiral Notebook

Pray Spiral Book is an altered item using a spiral index card book made by Better Office Products.

I use these little books for Scripture verses and any notes I have for the verse.
