It's a bird, it's a plane...It's a Super Hero Mini

Aloha, Gia here posting some inspiration for you using the "Super" cute Super Hero Theme Set from Pebbles. You will find it along with so many other cute lines from Pebbles listed in the epic Spring/Summer 2013 Memory Works Catalog.

I love to make mini memory books of my children's themed birthday parties. I usually have more pictures than I would want to use in a layout and they are the perfect size for little hands to hold and enjoy looking at and sharing with their friends and family! This project uses some up cycled CD/DVD covers which have round peek-a-boo windows already built in:

You probably noticed that I also saved all of my Simple Stories Sn@p scraps and used them in this project. They are so colorful so they coordinated perfectly. Here are a few more tips to help you be more green and save more green:

1. Save old office supplies such as these CD covers, but also index cards, rolodex cards, tabs and labels, manila folders, etc and use them in your projects.

2. Before you throw away or give away outgrown kids clothing check for cute buttons or hardware or even the fabric itself to use in your projects. (That little guy on the ball chain is a button!)

3. Try organizing your supplies or just your scraps by color scheme- it helps to find ways to mix and match different lines and leftovers so you make the most of your supplies!

A Simple Stories Teacher's Gift Idea

Happy Wednesday all!!  Everyone is saying it, so I might as well say it too.  I can't believe school is almost over this year!  Our daughter Hannah actually graduated from 4K today! 

 

This year's end snuck up on me between work and running our girls to dance and soccer.  So I needed some quick and easy Teacher's gifts.  First we, made some cool vases that I found on Pinterest.  You can check them out here.  

 

I also wanted to give some treats and found the best price on Milka Chocolate bars at Walmart for under $1.50 a bar.  They're awesome.  So, chocolate is it this year!

 

I wrapped up two bars using papers from the Simple Stories Variety Pack (still available as a National Scrapbook Day special). I pinched the ends together and sealed it with two sided tape, then trimmed the ends using my scalloped paper trimmer blade. I wrapped another strip around and layered some bakers twine and May Arts natural burlap string for some fun texture. Next, I adhered a big Prima Flower and added a little tag and Dear Lizzy stickers. I also had some Studio Calico Butterfly stickers in my stash and topped them off with the new My Minds Eye My Girl Enamel Dots.. they're super cute and shiny!!

These little goodies are for Sari's teacher.  I also have a little something special planned for her as she's due with her first baby in August!  Can't wait to share that later!

"The Good Life Kit" came with not only a little packet of Die Cut Shapes from Dear Lizzy but also a set of Mini Bags from Fancy Pants.  These made card making super easy and super quick!

Creative Friday

Hi Everyone... Janey again.  Can you believe that it is the end of May!  We are heading out camping this weekend and pray the weather gets a tad bit warmer as we celebrate Memorial Day... A Day to remember the men and women who died while serving in the Armed Forces.  I'd like to thank all those who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice for us!  As we are headed out to celebrate, I can't help but think of all those affected by all the tornadoes and weather in Oklahoma this passed week.  It is just heart wrenching and pray for a quick recovery.

 Last week I shared with you my Creative Space.  This week I thought I'd share a few current projects. 

Here is a current birthday card for a young man.  I love to emboss and paper piece items.  It was well received. 

My daughter recently graduated from college, so why not incorporate some scrapbooking into her day. I took all her photos that she had shared with me during her college years and I created a memory board that included her name, major and college.  She loved it and everyone at her graduation party had fun finding themselves on the board. 

I created this "Little Moments" card for one of the gals in my office.  She always looks forward to getting a card from me each year.  I love to ink all the edges of my projects.  I also punched a view scalloped circles to add to the die-cut.  Of course what's a card without a little bling and ribbon... Almost always on my projects. 

This project was inspired by my mother.  She is a beautiful seamstress and I wanted to create a little special item for her.  I took two wooden pieces and inked them, added paper and sandwiched an empty toilet paper roll in the middle.  I covered the toilet paper roll with paper and other embellishments as well as ribbon and pearls.  I inked everything I possibly could and spritzed everything with Glimmer Mist.
