Here we are, our final week with Guest Designer Lisa Harris!
Hello again!
I’m back with my last post as March Guest Designer. Boy, has
this month flown by or what?
Today I’m bringing you a tutorial for an interactive card
that’s really simple to make, but makes a great visual impact. You can create
this card for any occasion, and it’s a great project for your next MemoryWorks
party.
So here are the steps:
1.
Gather your supplies. I used card blanks and
flowers from a previous month’s Express kit, because the colors were perfect
for the My Mind’s Eye papers and journal block I wanted to use for this
project.

2.
Score. Instead of scoring the card blank in half
as you normally would, score it at 5 ½.”
3.
Cut patterned paper. Cut one piece of patterned
paper 5 ¼” x 5 ¼” , and another, different pattern (I used the “B” side of the
same paper) 2 ¾”x 5 ¼.” Ink if desired.
4.
Adhere. Adhere the square piece on the inside of
the card and the rectangle onto the front of the card.
5.
Cut/score. Cut another card blank down to 3 ¼” x
8 ½.” Score at 4 ¼.”
6.
Add sentiment. I chose to use a journal card
from the My Mind’s Eye theme set. You could also use stickers or stamp your
sentiment onto the front of the smaller card. Note: Be sure to put the
sentiment onto this piece so that the opening is to the LEFT, not to the right,
as you normally would.
7.
Adhere. Place the smaller card to the inside of
the larger one.
8.
Cut/Adhere. Cut two pieces of patterned paper
(different pattern) 3” x 4.” Ink as
desired and adhere to the inside of the smaller card.
9.
Embellish inside. Add flowers, stickers, or
anything you like to dress up the inside of the card.
10.
Embellish outside. Wrap ribbon around the side
of the card, add flowers, brads, etc. to embellish the front, and you are
finished!
Variations: You can create this card in a rectangular shape
by cutting the larger card down to 4 ½” x 8 ½.” You can also rotate the card 90
degrees so that the smaller card flips up instead of opening to the side.
