Make & Take 4/24
Alison Hammond did the make & take for 4/24 for the April Creative Challenge. This project is useful in many ways and easy to make.
"The pockets would be perfect for coupons for mom, recipes, photos, lists, calendars, etc!
Supplies: Manila (or patterned) file folder, Patterned paper and cardstock (I used BoBunny’s Abbey Road Theme Set, Combo Stickers, and Buttons and Bling), 1 yard ribbon, Embellishments, Adhesive
Tools: Paper Trimmer, Scissors, Crop-A-Dile, Bone Folder
Measure 4 inches on the side of the folder and score. Open the folder and crease the fold with your bone folder. Unfold.
Fold each side of the folder in to meet the middle, and crease with the bone folder. Unfold.
Fold the bottom portion up again, and accordion fold the folder.
Cover the folder with patterned paper or cardstock as you desire. (I found that a glue stick worked the best for me.) Trim the edges and corners as necessary. Keep in mind that the size and shape of every folder may vary according to manufacturer. Here are the measurements I used:
front and back cover: 4.5”x7.5”
1st panel top: 4.5”x4”; 1st panel bottom: 5”x4”
2nd panel top: 4.5”x4”; 2nd panel bottom: 4.5”x4”
3rd panel top: 4”x4”; 3rd panel bottom: 4”x4”
4th panel top: 4.5”x7.5”; 4th panel bottom: 4”x4”
Using the Crop-A-Dile, punch a hole on each side of the folder, 3.5 inches from the bottom.
Thread the ribbon through the holes.
Decorate and embellish the cover. "

Beauty
Beauty, what is beauty to you? A sunset, a flower, a butterfly? As Scrapbookers, we see beauty in the everyday of life. So inspiring.....
I just wanted to share something truly inspiring that happened in the scrapbook industry that certianly helped restore my faith in human mankind and the ties-that-bind those with a passion for the same hobby.
As many of you may know, MemoryWorks recently partnered with Cathy Zieskle http://cathyzielske.typepad.com/, popular scrapbook designer and celebrity blogger, to advertise a once-in-a-lifetime giveaway….a FREE pass to the upcoming MemoryWorks Scrapbook Retreat to be held June 18- 20, 2009 in Layton, Utah at the Davis Conference Center.
Scrapbook enthusiasts throughout the country were eager to post comments to Cathy’s blog so they could enter to win the free MemoryWorks Scrapbook Retreat pass. Over 300 bloggers posted a comment to the simple question “Why do you need a retreat?” Some bloggers posted their need to get away and escape the demands of everyday life, while others wanted the getaway to reignite their passion for their hobby.
But it was one post that tugged on everyone’s heart-strings, “My house burned to the ground on February 7, 2009 and I lost ALL my scrapbooks! I need to start scrapping again. I'm in over my head with insurance paperwork, so a scrapbook retreat would be a great place to get started,” commented Lori from Minnesota.
And what happened next was short of a miracle. Click on this video-cast from Cathy's blog...where she announces the winner of the retreat pass. I got goose-bumps watching it...I hope you do to:

"Sweet Spring Success" Make & Take
Last weeks Creative Challenge on the MemoryWorks message board started with a chat session amongst the consultants. Games were played, tips were shared, a good time was had by all, and don't forget the prizes too! Tuesday was the birth of Business Challenge #3 (Boost Your Biz-Marketing Tips/Q&A). And on Friday was a make & take created by Mary Konow. This cute treat/goodie bag would make great party favors for any kind of a party. So here is Mary's project:
"April Creative Challenge Make-n-take Friday 4-17-09 With “Sweet Success” being the theme this month, I thought what better make-n-take than a little goodie bag for your customers! You can use little baggies and fill them with candy or use individually wrapped candy and attach with adhesive. This can be used for any occasion besides our business and it’s very inexpensive. You can attach your business card on the back or inside.
Supplies: Double sided patterned paper (one sheet will give you 5 goodies “bags”), Hole punch or Crop-a-Dile, Ribbon or string of your choice cut to about 12 inches, Paper or silk flowers that coordinate with your paper, 12x12 trimmer with a scoring blade, Adhesive of your choice, Pen to write a sentiment, or stamp and ink
Step 1- Using your trimmer, cut your paper to large strips measuring 9 inches x 3 inches
Step 2- Measure 4 inches from each end of the paper and score the paper with the scoring blade. This will leave a 1 inch “gap”
Step 3- Fold both sides up together and using the hole punch or Crop-A-Dile, punch 2 holes at the top about an inch from each side and a half on inch from the top. Place adhesive near the holes (but not on the holes) and adhere candy of your choice.
Step 4- Adhere flowers to front and string ribbon through the holes. Tie a bow around the flowers. You can decorate the front to suit your needs and occasion. I used a “thanks” stamp from last year’s Autumn Leaves line. The paper is from Fancy Pants.

This cute project was created for the "Out of the Box" Challenge (Challenge #4). To decorate the wood flowers, Susan used Amercian Crafts Backyard Theme Set and Cosmo Crickets Girl Friday Chip Letters.
And the next project is from Independent Consultant Susan Nichols. She made this cute card for the "Spring Card" Challenge (Challenge #2). Susan used the following products to make her card: 3 Bugs in a rug - Butterfly Kisses theme set; Prima Flowers - Morning Song; Fancy Pants - Daily grind buttons; and Random Spring acrylic stamps.
So there are a couple more projects from the challenges that are going on in the MemoryWorks message board. There are many other cute projects as well. So check back next week and hopefully these projects have inspired you to make something nice as well.

Go back in time and stroll down memory lane. This kits soft colors and vintage patterned papers adds that touch of nostalgia. As usual, the kit is packed with lots of goodies to create fabulous projects from. Here are some examples:

These first two projects were made by TeamWorks member Mary Konow. The colors on the card speak spring is here. I love how Mary cut the striped paper at angles for each stripe. Yes, that is paper and not ribbon. :) Her layout is beautiful and goes well with the photo that she chose. Well done Mary!

“Inspire Book” by Lacey Igo
These two projects were created by TeamWorks member Lacey Igo. The card is colorful, “springy” and very cute. The little bird stamp does not come with the kit. The “Inspire Book” is so very pretty. The book came with this kit and Lacey utilized it very well. Nice job Lacey!

The new catalog is HERE!
It's here, it's here, it's finally here!!!

There are so many choices, and they're all amazing! What do you have planned?
I did a little dance yesterday afternoon when I checked my email and saw that the all new 2009/2010 MemoryWorks Product Catalog is now available to order!
Home Office has worked so hard to bring us this beautiful new catalog, and they've done it in "record time" too! Having had a chance to look (and drool, and look, and drool) through all 60 gorgeous pages of the PDF file I could not be more excited to get the print version in my hands and pass it on to my friends and family. There are some old familiar faces in the catalog, but there are some fresh and exciting new ones, too. The catalogs are available to consultants under the "MW Business Supplies" section of the website.
So, now that I've had a chance to catch my breath, I get to start dreaming and planning ways to showcase these awesome new products. I don't know about you all, but I'm planning an Open House in a couple of weeks, and I'd really love to have a project or two for my guests to do that show off some of the fabulous new goodies.
There are so many choices, and they're all amazing! What do you have planned?

By adding a clear gloss medium, such as Inkssentials Glossy Accents, to a stamped image of a bird, butterfly or bee, will “Let it shine.” You can “Dress it up” the Maya Road Birds Minis Sheet Set, for instance, by adding glitter or using Stickles by Ranger Ink. You can “Make it sparkle” by adding small beads. Another way to add birds, butterflies, and bees to your layout is by “Designing your own.” This can be accomplished by drawing and cutting your image out, or use some of your punches. A large paisley makes a great body for a bird and a medium teardrop for the bird’s wing. Lastly, you can “Add texture” by adding some stitching to your embellishment.
