Creative Friday - Wood Buttons

Welcome to another Creative Friday with Katie.  I have a love for Washi Tape and am always on the hunt for new ideas.  Thanks to a few pins on Pinterest, I found something I wanted to try
. 

I used my washi tape to decorate these wooden buttons. 

These buttons were in the July MWExpress Kit and they are from Maya Roads.  I know there are tons of ideas for use, but adding some washi tape is another great one!

 

After I added the tape, the threaded them with string and added to the premade tag. 

 

Here is another shot of a finished button. 

 

Adding washi tape to these buttons is a great way to add color or color coordinate your project.  I hope you enjoyed this creative tip.

Creating Cards Without Stamps with Jody

Jody here again!  So, you think you can't make cute cards without stamps and ink?? Well, this girl will show you that you can.  Don't get me wrong at all because I do love my stamps.  Lately there are so many fun die cuts and other elements with sentiments already printed right on them that how can I resist?  

I created three fun cards with Amy Tangerine's Yes Please 6x6 Pad & Puffy Stickers, Fancy Pants Down By The South Die Cuts, Studio Calico Sun Drifter Die Cuts, foam adhesive, May Arts natural burlap string and some packaging from the Amy Tangerine Puffy Stickers.  Here are my non-stamped cards!

"You Are The Sweetest"

Amy Tangerine papers, Studio Calico Sun Drifter die cuts and a doily.   I layered some cute Fancy Pants die cuts from their sweet Down By The Shore line!   The sentiment "You Are My Sunshine" is also in that same die cuts set.

"Hello Sunshine"

Amy Tangerine 6x6" papers, puffy stickers & packaging, along with some Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm Flair.  Can you spot the packaging on this card?  If you said the frame-like element at the right corner, you'd be right on!  I punched a scalloped square out of the graph printed cardboard packaging for a previous project and just couldn't part with the negative shape it left behind.  The same with that negative cloud shape too.

"You Are My Sunshine"

Amy Tangerine papers, Fancy Pants Down By The South Die Cuts (and sequins), May Arts Burlap String and foam adhesive.  I really love how this card turned out.  I love the May Arts burlap string and use it in many of my projects.  It's a great way to add some texture to your projects without adding too much bulk.  I wrapped the burlap string around the Studio Calico die cut frame and then tucked a little Amy Tangerine cut out from her lovely 6x6" pad in between the string.  Did I mention that I love that paper pad!!  I also tucked several of Amy Tangerine's puffy stickers behind and around the Studio Calico die cuts for a fun little game of peak-a-boo!

I'm so glad you stopped by today!  As you can see, I love to mix up my favorite scrapbooking manufacturers for a style and 'me'.

Guest Designer Tuesday - Karen Siefert

Hello! Welcome back to another week with our July Guest Designer Karen Siefert.

This is the cutest idea for a quick Birthday treat! A handmade topper in an Orange! Cute and yummy!!!

Karen used some of the elements from the kit to redecorate some of her scrap area! 

This duo of bookmarks are so cute! They would make a nice  little welcome back gift with the new school year approaching soon....

The July Express Kit has become one of my favorites and the creativity that it has inspired makes me love it even more. This card by Karen Seifert just made me happy. The colors, the way she mixed patterns and the diecut are a big hit.

TGIF Friends!!  It's County Fair weekend here for us, so we are pumped for the weekend.  Hope you are too, and that you can fit something crafty in. 

 

I don't know about you but sometimes I need a little help to get going when it comes to working on pages and getting creative.  Each month when the MWExpress Kit comes out, MemoryWorks shares some Ideas.  THIS is a PDF that gives you ideas and sketches on what to do with your kit.   It can be found each month in the MWExpress Kit page, under Ideas and Inspiration. 

 

I pulled a couple sketches from that page and started working on my layouts. 

 

All of the supplies came from this month's MWExpress Kit.  The camera accents from Fancy Pants are a fun addition to these layouts. 

 

I don't follow the sketches in the PDF to a T... but I do like them for a jumping point and then I can be creative from there. 

I used another sketch from the PDF here, and loved adding the accents on this page.  Bright and colorful for a birthday layout. 

 

 

 All supplies from the MWExpress Kit, plus some Aqua Thickers.

Cards & Tags Thursday VIDEO!

Jody here from TeamWorks! It's great to be back on the blog today.  The heat here in Southeastern Wisconsin is awful, so I've been staying cool by crafting with my girls in my studio and playing in the sprinkler!  That's good 'ol Wisconsin weather for ya,  rarely a happy medium.

And, since I believe in taking full advantage of bad weather for my creative time, I did a video for you!

Challenge Wednesday

Hi everyone... Janey here.  This month's challenge is hosted by Design Team Member Meg.  She has asked all of us to come up with a project (card, layout, tag, whatever) as long as we include three supplies.  She wants us to go fishin' in our stash for paper, stickers and a button (or flair).  Seemed pretty easy until I had to come up with it...lol.  So I went to the MemoryWorks July Express Kit and came up with "Life's a Wave" card.  I have a special someone that will be getting this card for his birthday this weekend.  I hope he likes it!

I used stickers, buttons, some twine from my stash, Tim Holtz ink and some pop-dots.  Great challenge!  There is still time to participate in this month's July challenge.  Now let's see what you come up with.

Express Kit Monday

In case you haven't already noticed, the July kit is A.MA.ZING. I love the colors and the supplies. TeamWorks Member Cathie Hollins has really highlighted how great the kit is with her projects. She used scraps to cover a black foam insert from a small box, creating a simple but fun frame for a picture of her hubby and her oldest grandson.

 Cathie also created some fun and amazing cards.

My cousin graduated HS and is head to college in Vermont. Here's the card I made for her. 

Of course you can't have a kit without some awesome layouts. Cathie found the perfect photos for the kit.

Me? I fell in love with the pastels and geometric shapes.
