30 Days, 30 Cards Day 30!

Can you believe it is the last day of 30 Days, 30 Cards?  I think I am going to miss the fresh inspiration I saw each day!  So, here is the last sketch:

I used Simple Stories Handmade Christmas papers and a Sizzix Bigz die to cut the holly leaves.

Today I bring you another sketch I have designed.

For this card sample I used the BasicGrey: Aspen Frost line. The corner banners really give you an option to layer some Washi, torn paper and flags!

30 Days, 30 Cards Day 28

I don't know about you but I'm really excited and motivated after 4 weeks of awesome and beautiful Christmas cards!  I can't wait for Thanksgiving to be over so I can get my Christmas decorations out and start making my home look "merry and bright"!  Can you believe Thanksgiving is tomorrow!?  Really, where has this year gone? 

Again today I got my inspiration from the Mojo Monday blog archives.  They just have beautiful sketches and I enjoy seeing so many beautiful creations on their blog.  Again I have chosen a sketch from the 2010 archves.

For this card I used Basic Grey's Aspen Frost.  The colors are not the ones I typically think of for Christmas but I just fell in love with them and knew I had to use these for some of my Christmas cards and layouts this year. 

I love the paper that looks like birch tree bark!  The stamp is one that I purchased last year (after creating Christmas cards!) at Walmart of all places.  The ribbon is from my stash.  Again I used my sewing maching for some texture.  Be sure to come back tomorrow for another great card for your holiday inspiration.

This card has a little bit more of a Thanksgiving-ish feel to it, but there are some reds and greens in there. 

 I found this sketch to be pretty forgiving.  You can play it up, or keep it simple....have fun with it!  Be sure to stop back tomorrow for another sketch, and don't forget to link up your projects!

Wow!  5 more days left of this fun challenge.  Today is day 25 of the challenge.  I chose one of the June 2012 CardMaps from the PageMaps website.  Have fun with it and let's see what you come up with using the CardMap.

I'm a bit card crazy...

This week's post is usually set to feature a card/layout/project I've seen in the gallery and use that as a jumping off point to create a card.  Since we're still in the middle of 30 Days, 30 Cards, I decided to use one of the sketches as my jumping off point and created both a Christmas card and a birthday card using the same sketch.  I am hoping you'll see the value and versatility of using sketches, not only in making cards but also in creating layouts.  We all have those days when we just can't figure out what we want to do with our photos and looking at a sketch can often get us past that block and moving again.  Even if we stray from the sketch and go off on our own, it gets us going.  So, enough talking.  Here is what I came up with.  First of all, the sketch:



I chose this sketch because it was posted on November 17th, which happens to be my birthday.  :)  I also liked the sketch.  Here is Sheri's card based on the sketch:



Beautiful, huh?  I love the exchange she made using the little bag instead of the pocket and the 3-D tree.
I went a little more literal:

I used Authentique's Festive papers from the 6"x 6" pad along with a piece of denim fabric paper for the pocket.  I had a bit of a pearl swirl leftover from another project and thought I'd bedazzle the pocket a bit.  I punched a star from a scrap and added a bit of old crochet lace.  I used a kraft base as I have for all the 30 Day cards I've made.  I love the sketch and the card.

So then I thought I'd make a birthday card using the same sketch.  After all, it was my birthday.  

I started with a kraft base again and used Crate Paper's On Trend papers and 6"x 6" pad, an old piece of twill, chipboard pieces from On Trend and Sn@p Typeset alphas.  

Here are the two, side by side.  

At the end of the month, you will have 30 new sketches to jump off from to create cards all year round.  So, go card crazy and have fun!

Creative Friday

Well, I made it! The turkey coma threatened to keep me in bed all day today but I rallied together and here I am! I hope each of you had a truly wonderful Thanksgiving and if you elected to get out and do some holiday shopping today I hope you got everything you wanted and are now safely at home enjoying a beautiful day!

Our "30 Days, 30 Cards" challenge has been so much fun for me. I have truly loved seeing all of the beautiful cards that you and our MemoryWorks consultants have made. It has filled me with incredible inspiration for my own card making. So for that reason I decided again this Friday to play along with Christy's sketch from earlier today. Here is the card I came up with:

I usually do a standard A2 sized card so it was fun for me to try out a square card today. I really like the balanced look of it. For this card I used papers from the BasicGrey Aspen Frost collection. This might possibly be my favorite holiday paper this year. It just reminds me of a beautiful snow filled day in the country.
