Cards & Tags Thursday

Welcome to Cards & Tags Thursday! I'm so excited to be joining you all this week! I have a few different things to share with you this week including a card, a tag and 3x4 DIY journal cards!

First, here is a card I made using the Simple Stories: I Heart Summer line. I used a pocket on the cover to add a little card (which I trimmed down). I than added a few layers of various ribbons I had in my stash and finished it off with Simple Stories: I Heart Summer chipboard hearts.

Next, I created this tag. I wanted the white tag to show through with a pattern so I used a Fancy Pants stencil, embossing ink and clear embossing powder. After I set the embossing powder, I sprayed the tag with water and used a paint brush to apply Tim Holtz Distress Stains. I than embellished with items from my stash, including Washi Tape, corrugated cloud, etc.

The final project I want to share is 3x4 journaling cards. Every Day life albums (project life, Simple Stories system, etc) are a huge trend right now on the market. There are oodles of 3x4 journal cards on the market. But I'm going to share a few that I created uses odds and ends in my stash. No need to purchase new things, this is a great way to use up scraps, random stickers or other embellishments and customize to fit your own album and life!

 Welcome to Cards and Tags Thursday. 

Do you like to make tags? 

Do you make ornate tags or really simple ones?  

I make really, really simple ones for my Christmas gifts each year and I have made some relatively simple ones for you today.

Maybe one day I will attempt one of those "Oh, My Goodness I can't believe how beautiful this Tag is" but for now, I'm having fun making these.

MW August Challenge Me Wednesday - "Going Places"

Hi everyone... Janey here!  The day isn't over yet, so I think I am just under the wire to share with you the challenge for this month!  Challenge: "Going Places" - To include a layout using signs, post cards and/or maps showing the different places we have gone or done this summer (even if it's a staycation)! 

Here is what I was able to create from one of our recent trips.  I used product from MW Express Kits that I subscribe to.  I cut trees and mountains as well as the jeep, signs and map silhouette.  I inked the edges of everything, using my Tim Holtz inks.  I used washi tape from my stash and Stickles for a little bling.  The journaling is on my "postcard" from Simple Stories stash.  I had fun layering everything until I got the desired look.  I used pop-dots to help give a little dimension in a few spots.

Cards and Tags Thursday

I have never been much of a card maker, maybe because I'm a terrible stamper and "most" cards have stamped sentiments. 
But I am learning to use the stickers and papers I have and I am really starting to like it. 

Cards are like little pieces of paper crafting fun!  And I wouldn't be here if I didn't love paper crafting!  

I still don't make up the cards ahead of time, mainly they are made just for special occasions.
