Card Crazy Saturday

It's Kelly back again for this week's Card Crazy Saturday!  Today I'm going to share my take on this beautiful card created by fellow TeamWorks member, Lynn Darda:

What I loved about this card was the simple elegance...that's right up my alley :) So, I sort of used the card as a 'sketch', but I also used cheerful, feminine colors similar to Lynn's. She used papers from the Simple Stories 'Fab{U}lous collection, I chose Bella Blvd's 'Sunshine and Happiness'.

Here is my take....

I also have a mish-mash of other things added to my card...some things might be recognizable.  The butterfly is from a competition Fiskars was having. I didn't enter, but the colors matched the Sunshine and Happiness papers...so I had thrown them in with the kit.  The heart is a clothing tag....something else I thought was cute, and had just thrown in. The 'Sunshine and Happiness' banner/tag was actually part of  the bar code strip on one of the patterned papers. I had cut it out before I threw the strip away.

I topped the card off with a few rhinestones on the butterfly, and a couple of staples for the heart...and it was done!  Now....go check and see what you have laying around, and staple it to a card :)
Have a great weekend!

Card Crazy Saturday

Hi...It's Kelly joining you for Card Crazy Saturday! I've got 3 quick cards to share. These came together pretty quickly...a fun project for the long weekend, and there will still be time to relax with the fam :)

The first card I made with the Simple Stories Fab{U}lous collection.

Hello Friend:

I only used a border strip, a flashcard, and 3 stickers from the collection.  For a little something extra, I added a rhinestone, and a twine threaded button.

This next card is from the Bella Blvd Sunshine and Happiness Collection

Small Wonder:

I really love that lady bug...and thought it would be adorable for a baby card.

On this last one, I used Fancy pants' Wave Searcher collection.

The Best is Yet to Come:

I  wanted to make a card with this set, but had a hard time coming up with a theme.  I decided a retirement-ish type of card would be good.  It might even be ok for a graduation.

Those are them.....thanks for joining me, and I will be back next week with some more card love.  Have a safe weekend!

Creative Cards Saturday: Clean & Simple!

Hello.  Did you miss me?  Smiles.  It feels like forever since I have posted here.  Looking back I think it was in April when I last posted here.  Today, I am sharing some CLEAN & SIMPLE cards with all of you.

When I applied to be on the design team we had to submit a bio.  I thought it would be appropriate to share about me, {since most of you probably never heard of me before making the design team}.

I became a consultant in October 2011, prior to that I was with The Angel Company, which closed it's doors in August 2011.  I am a wife and a mom of 3, ages 25, 22 & 10.  I work full-time in the corporate world.  I love stamping and coloring, I scrap {occasionally}, I love to crochet when I have the time & mostly, I love spending time with my family.

I currently design for several design teams, including my local scrapbooking store: VIP Scrapbook Gallery.  I am also an Endorsed {ippity} Chick with Unity.

My style: Clean and Simple with no frills, however I am dabbling in some Tim Holtz distressed looks.

Pet Peeve:  Bad photographs of beautiful cards/scrap pages & projects.  Taking the time to take great pictures of your art is so important. The focus should be your art, backgrounds should be clutter free with little to no props.

One word that describes me in the crafting world: perfectionist, I must have a "perfectly" stamped image or I will keep trying, if I can! I would have preferred my sentiment to be down lower on card one.  Oops!

Well, I hope you have enjoyed learning more about me.  I also hope you like my cards for today.  I have found less is better.  I like things to {pop} and I like the focus to be on the stamped images.  The papers and cardstock are the canvas, and MemoryWorks does a fantastic job carrying a wide variety, so there is always something for everyone.

Supplies:

Stamps: Pocket full of Posies, Simple Stories & Unity; Dolled Up, My Minds Eye
Paper/CS:  Dolled Up, My Minds Eye; Fab{U}lous, Simple Stories
Other: Dolled Up Brads, My Mind's Eye;  Fab{U}lous Stickers, Simple Stories; Pearls & Ribbon {my stash}.

ADDED Later:  I have received a few emails asking what I did to make the butterflies so crisp.  I used Xpress-it Paper & Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink {in my opinion it is the best black ink to use if not using Copics to color your image}.

abundant blessings,

Challenge Me Wednesday: EXTRA

I'm so glad there's an extra Wednesday in the month of May! We've had great inspiration all month, and it's nice to have a chance to send a little more your way. I have three projects for you--a pop-up card and 2 altered frames--so let's take a look.

For Mother's Day this year, I made a pop-up card for my mom. I used Echo Park's Graceful collection for the patterned paper.

If you pull the little tag at the top, here's what happens:

Here's a close-up of the tag:

And here it is with the envelope (it fits a standard A2 envelope).

Next up are two inexpensive craft frames that I altered. In addition to the Graceful collection, I also used Echo Park's Charming collection. (This and Aweso{ME} by Simple Stories are my favorite boy collections.) The buttons on the "Daughter" frame are from a retired Echo Park collection. The beauty of many of our new collections is that they still coordinate very well with previous collections you might still have in your stash!

I hope you enjoyed a bit of mid-week inspiration. Don't forget to give yourself time to create something this week!
