15 Days of the Holidays-Day 9

Welcome to day 9 of our Christmas minis!  I opted to do a Christmas book/planner instead of a Christmas daily since I am already doing Project Life so our December will already be documented in that album:)  It is made from 6x6 kraft paper and the Simple Stories Handmade Holiday 6x6 paper pad.  To make it thicker or sturdier, add a piece of cardboard between each of your pages.  I keep this in my purse so I have it at all times.  Here is the cover of my Christmas book:

The next few pages are calendar pages.  I printed off pages from here for the whole month.

I made a tag for everyone in my family with some of their gift ideas.  That way they are easy to remember.  I didn't glue them down, just slipped them in a pocket so they (or I) can still add more ideas.

The next page is to hold all of my Christmas receipts to make it easy for returns.  I only glued down the sides and bottom so I can just slip them into the top.  Then it's my cards page.  I listed all of the people/families that we are planning to send Christmas cards to.  I will mark them off as I send them so I don't forget anyone:)

This page is reserved for a family picture that we'll take on Christmas!

Hope you enjoyed my little book.  Merry Christmas!!

Day 3: 30 Days/30 Cards

Welcome to day 3 of our 30 Days, 30 Cards.  I used a sketch from one of my favorite sketch sites, PageMaps.  She has loads of card and layout sketches on her website.  Here's the one I chose:

I used the Simple Stories Handmade Holiday 6x6 pad to create this card.  I love to add stitching to my cards and layouts so I loved that this one had that fun "stitchy" border to it.

Can't wait to see what you create with this sketch.  Link up your take on the sketch so we can all take a look at it too:)

Creative Friday: Glimmer Mist

It's Caroline here again:) This Friday I chose a favorite Memory Works product and want to share it with you.  I bought a bottle of:

around 8 months ago and it's been sitting on my desk every since then.  Eeeek!!  I was scared to use it because it could potentially really mess up my layout or card.  So I challenged myself to use it and it's sooooo much fun and can add a really cool effect to your projects!!  Here's a layout and card I made using the glimmer mist (there are tons of colors to choose from) and Simple Stories Summer Fresh.
Supplies Used: American Crafts Kraft Cardstock, Simple Stories Summer Fresh Collection, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Candy Red Apple, Sewing machine and thread

Supplies used: American Crafts Pool Cardstock, Simple Stories Summer Fresh Collection, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Candy Red Apple

A few tips about the mist:
*For bigger splats on your paper, hold the bottle closer to your paper.  For smaller splatters, hold the bottle farther away.
*It can be messy so be aware what's "around" your project.  It may get sprayed as well.  I just did mine outside to be safe.
*Practice on scratch paper so you can get used to the feel of the spray bottle and how far or close you want it to be on the paper.
*Shake the bottle really well first and HAVE FUN!!
