And then it happened… the doctor said I was expecting not one but TWO babies! Shock and awe ensued then it hit me, but what about my ROOM… Well I couldn’t let them sleep in the backyard… and I couldn’t add on a room to my home… so what is a scrapbooking addict to do?
All kidding aside, I knew the twins needed a bedroom but I hated not having my own space. I had to find a solution that we could all live with. I scanned the internet for ideas and finally found something that could serve as my creative space AND my office.

I found this armoire on Craigslist for a really decent price. We placed it in the corner of the living room and I’ve incorporated things I love that don’t make it look unsightly. And it has doors but it’s not like they ever get shut ;)

The vintage black lunch box holds my inkpads and an old sewing drawer holds mist, dyes, and tools. A tool caddy from Home Depot holds ribbon, embroidery threads, buttons, brads and other metal embellishments. The cases are totally portable for taking to crops.

If you are thinking there has to be more stuff, well yes there is… I also took over the coat closet for items I don’t use everyday- like the sewing machine, paper stash, old albums, and family heritage projects.

Someday I’d love a fabulous room just for creating, BUT for now I’m doing my best with what I have. And thankfully, my family doesn’t mind. Happy Scrapping!

Love your space Mary!
I vividly remember that two baby conversation with my doctor and husband. Scary and magical in the very same breath. That was just over 8 years ago for me and it seems like yesterday.
I am getting ready to be kicked out of my scroffice too! :( Those darned kids. ;) My boys have been sharing one room for awhile and now that they are almost 12 we NEED to seperate them LOL.
Nice to see that a ROOM can be condensed nicely into the living room. Thanks for sharing this.
Great Space... and story Mary!
I have seen your space first hand and it is amazing what you are able to do in your tight little quarters!
Love your Space Mary!! Your black lunch pail is cool. It has given me ideas on make-up cases! Fun that you can be with your family when you scrapbook :) If they aren't too distracting ;)
I love your craft space! I was once in your shoes and had a room that was just for scrapbooking. Then baby #2 came along...and we all know the rest of that story :)
So sorry that you "lost" your own room...but you have done great things with your new space! I'm sure the twins will someday appreciate what you gave up for them, haha!
