Inspiration Friday - Scrap Space Tour!

Happy Friday! Christy here, and today I’m going to take you on a tour of my Studio!

I feel like one lucky gal to have a space like this to escape and create - all thanks to my handy husband!  My room ideas came from a scrapbook magazines "creative spaces" edition.   I took a few things I liked from various spaces then put them together to work for my space.

I'm an organizational fanatic - and a clean as I go scrapper.  I usually stand when I create so I have counter height for my entire workspace.

Here's a look inside my creative space:
My upper and lower cabinets contain my albums along with apothecary jars filled with decorative chip board, ribbon spools and rub ons along with a display of some of my vintage cameras.

This area is where I keep all of my cutting supplies and various tools. My Cricut and Quickutz squeeze and revolution die cut tools are always out within reach.  One of the drawers houses scraps for the kids - on occasion they join me in my Studio and it's always fun seeing what they create.

Here is the extra-wide counter space where I spread out all my supplies when I create. Plenty of workspace here for a friend or two! There is a floor-to-counter display nook where I display more of my vintage pieces and framed photos.

Here are some of my storage solutions. Since I love to display my supplies, these apothecary jars are just perfect for embellishments and ribbon.  I also use a lot of baskets which are tucked into most of my drawers and cabinets. The inspiration board is 8 pieces of 12x12 cork with 6 of them backed with fabric and finished with a decorative trim. The 12x12 storage cases are a must, I don't know what I would do without them. I plan my pages using these cases whether I'm scrapping at home or on the go.

I've tried many solutions for storing ribbon and I decided displaying just works best. The jars are filled with coordinating color ribbon and each has a matching colored button adhered to the jar. The 3 tier basket is where I keep all of my most recent purchases that I just can't bear to put away. I also love to use a lot of decorative pins on my layouts so I keep those close at hand on a dress form pin cushion. My flowers too are displayed on the counter in a jar. My favorite has to be these little jars with lids. I keep all of my buttons and small embellishments in these. I've also repurposed a Prima flower container for chip pieces.

Here's a peak inside some of my cabinets and drawers. My cardstock and patterned papers are stored in cropper hoppers with a convenient pull-out drawer. (I confess, I have Thickers in abundance so they are stashed here). In the baskets I keep all of my chipboard alphabets and elements along with stamps and ink. I also keep my scrap paper in the Iris cases, one is for solid cardstock and the other for patterned scraps.

Who can create a beautiful layout and just tuck it into an album? I can't. That's why I just love these display frames. I think I will be adding more of these soon.

These are Making Memories individual 12x12 magnetic, pin and chalk boards which are adhered to a plywood backing and finished with a black trim. I keep my brads and other small embellishments in view in these clear containers which I added magnets to the back.

This shelf is another great way to display all of your goodies. I keep everything from Stickles, buttons, Mr. Hueys, floss, brads and more here.

Thanks for taking the tour of my Studio!

Product Wednesday - Mini Maze Album

Hello all, and welcome back to Product Wednesday!
Today, I will be showing you how to create a Maze Mini Album from just one sheet of 12x12 paper (yes, ONE piece). I am using Bo Bunny's Gabrielle Theme Set, Cut Outs and Combo Stickers for this Mini Album. So let's get started!

First, score your 12x12 paper every 3 inches. You will need to do this horizontal and vertical. After scoring in both directions, your 12x12 paper should look like this:
Next, you will need to cut along the score lines. Starting at the edge of the paper and stopping at the third score line (do NOT cut all the way to the other side). Make two cuts on the outer score lines, then turn the paper and cut the center score line of the other side. Please see the picture below... it makes more sense when there's a visual.Once you have finished cutting, it's time to start folding your maze book. Starting at one of the corners (either the top right or left of the picture above), start folding back and forth (like a fan) on the score lines. Once you reach a corner just make the turn by folding the paper to the right or left, then continue on folding back and forth until you reach the end.
Here is the Album all folded together:
Now.. it is time for the glue! Starting at the front of your Mini Maze Album, begin to open the first few pages. You will notice that the backs of the pages open also. These are the pages that you will glue together. See below, the arch to the left of my hand needs to be glued together to form 1 page, and the area that I am gluing is actually where the fold turned.Once you have glued all of the appropriate backs, you should have actual pages!Next, we are ready to complete the front and back of our Mini Maze Album. First, I wrap a piece of ribbon around my album, leaving the ends long enough to tie a bow. Then, I glue down the ribbon to each side of the album. I also cut out two squares (slightly larger than my album) from the Bo Bunny Gabrielle Cut Outs. These will be the front and back of my album.Once the ribbon is glued down, I glue one of the cut outs to the front and one on the back of the album. This covers up the ribbon, and also holds it in place.
Now you are ready to embellish your Mini Maze Album, and add your photos.
Here is the front of my finished Album. These are great to give as gifts, and so easy to put together!
Thanks for checking out this weeks Product Wednesday! Don't forget, I'll be back next week!
Happy Wednesday!

Guest Designer Tuesday: Jenn's Rockin' Express Kit Projects

I loved the August Memory-Works Express kit.  We celebrate so many birthdays in June & July, I have lots of photos and memories to scrap.  I've made a few layouts, cards, and a great little box to store birthday cards in, and I still have some scraps to work with.  I loved playing with this kit.

I used the acrylic balloon to trace out a template for the balloons I made on these two pages.  I free-handed the cupcake and used my paper crimper to create the cupcake liner.  Some pen work made the little jimmies in the frosting.  I used Life Documented alphas to spell out birthday.  I love how the two lines coordinated so well.

Here I took my 12x12 paper and cut out a square at 10.5x10.5 to create an opening.  I then used a border punch and punched around the inside of the frame.  The corners didn't quite make it so they are covered with photos & embellishments.  I actually used this piece of paper as a test but when I layered it over the lighter blue paper I loved the monochromatic look.  I tried the same look with other papers in the kit and didn't like any as well as I did this combo, so my tester became my layout.  As you'll see, I used the piece I cut out throughout other projects in the kit.  Again, I cut the balloons and made the gift and the hat out of scraps, and used the stars from the sticker sheet.

The acrylic pieces were fun to play with.  I used alcohol inks to color this cupcake, added the candle sticker and some tiny silver pearls to pretty up the cupcake.  I hit the round alpha stickers in the middle with Glossy Accents to give them shine and dimension.  I went back again to the Life Documented alphas to finish up my title.

I decided to try this paper with a non-birthday related page and I like how this worked out.  By this time I'd run out of 12x12 paper from the kit so I pulled out a piece of MME limetwist to use as a background.  It looks great with the kit paper and brought in more blue.

A plain white cardboard school box from Michael's, MWE Happy Day kit papers & embellishments, my sewing machine and some glossy accents complete this project.  I used the Bday stamp for the side and balloon.  I am thinking that I will continue to use scraps to make birthday cards and pop them into this box and buy a sheet or two of postage stamps and give this to my mother-in-law for Christmas.  She'll have everything she needs to send cards out to family for the next year.

I used a Unity stamp from the set that goes with Jillibean Soup's Blossom line for the butterfly & sentiment.

I used the labels on the bottom of the paper and sticker sheet for "Happy Day" on this card and tag.  I also used Glossy Accents to jazz up the balloons.

In addition to the kit, I used one piece of 12x12 blue-green card stock, 12x12 piece of limetwist card stock, Life Documented alpha stickers, Unity Stamps, ink, Glossy Accents, Distress Stain, Sugar and Spice Twist, and various tools.  I hope you have as much fun playing with this kit as I did.

Inspiration Friday

Hello!  Christy Musack here again for Inspiration Friday!

One of my favorite manufactures is October Afternoon!  They have such fun lines, I absolutely love creating with OA!  Today I'm sharing a 12x12 layout created with "Rocket Age".  It's super adorable collection and I just love the soft colors and fun vintage appeal to this line.

Take a look at some of the items available in this collection (right from your MemoryWorks Consultant):

On to that layout I mentioned:
