The July Challenge is heating up!

The summer months are busy for so many of us. There are places to go, people to see, things to do, fans to sit in front of. While you're trying to keep up with your hectic schedules (and trying to stay cool), don't forget to take some creative time out for yourself! Sometimes just sitting down, even for a few minutes, to do something you love can restore your mind and spirit. Keeping in mind everyone's busy schedules, we've kept the July Challenge sweet and simple. Join the fun - you might even win a prize!

July's Sketch Challenge features a sketch that incorporates 4 photos. Here's what I came up with to celebrate my daughter finishing 1st grade and moving on to 2nd:

Tammy's Business Challenge is an awesome one! What can you do to keep the kids busy and keep your business active during the lazy days of summer? Head on over to the message board to post your ideas for a summer kid's crop or class!

What IS That?! It's July's Game of the Month, of course! Every day, Kemi and I will post a mystery picture. Think you know what it might be? Check out the photos on the message board
and give it a try!

And that's not all - wait until you see what we have planned next!

The winner for each challenge in July will win something to celebrate, for sure. Product Credits! So what are you waiting for? Dive on in!

Stamping meets Scrapping!

Ok – after attending this years retreat, I decided to challenge myself to stamping more. It is really cool how you can combine stamping with Scrapbooking and create such lovely pieces of art! I’ve notice how popular it is to open the MemoryWorks gallery and see a page full of layouts using inks, alphabet stamps, and other stamping products. There are so many products to create these beautiful layouts and cards. Stamps and inks can be used to create backgrounds and make titles; they are perfect for use in journaling and as eye-catching accents. Just take a look at MemoryWorks products. These are 7Gypsies Clear Stamps, some of my favorite.

Gypsy Year, Journal, Nottinghill

So, what does a scrapper need to know about stamp products? To begin with, a scrapper should know a basic understanding of the types of inks and ink pads available. Pads vary by company; in size, shape, material of the pad, and even in the way the lid is removed. Most inkpads are acid free, marked clearly on the packaging, and can be re-inked when the pad begins to dry. I am cray about Tim Holtz Distress Inks. did you know that you can layer the colors and they won't run? Try it. You can mix Vintage Photo with Straw and you'll see a nice combination of aged look. You can use them on your pages, cards, altered projects and even photos! These inks stack niceley also. I store mine upside down to prevent the pads from drying out too soon. They can also be re-inked.

So check out MemoryWorks newest catalog to get started on stamping in your Scrapbooks today. Challenge yourself, I am!

July's Ideas & Inspiration

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe 4th of July this weekend. Nothing beats spending time with friends and family, swimming, eating great food, and of course, watching the fireworks. Again this year I watched the awesome fireworks display on TV with the Boston Pops. At the beginning, Craig Ferguson mentioned how the past three years shows he has done on 4th of July had changed for him, resulting in him being a regular US citizen. The rights he now gets to experience thanks to the men and women of the military. He paid tribute to the military personnel, which there were alot of in the audience this year. I was touched by that because I am glad to have served and done my part for this country, the land of the free.

Which brings me to this month's Ideas & Inspirations by TeamWorks member Mary Konow. When you think of military, you think of camoflauge. This months projects were made from Making Memories Just Chillin' Boy theme set and embellishments. Of course, there is a camoflauge sheet of paper in the pack. The first project Mary used a piece of the camo paper with photos of her son's little Army men. What a cute layout! And some small pieces of the camo paper are on a card that she also made.

The notebook Mary made is so cute. She shows that these papers and embellishments are not just for boys, they can be used for some other projects. So now I will leave with this final note, just because something says that it is "boys" doesn't necessarily mean it is for a boy. Hey, women wear camo too!;)

Happy Scrappin'!
