Day 6: 30 Days, 30 Cards

Hello there!!  Are you ready for another great sketch for this month?  I found one of my favorite sketch sites, Karen's Sweet Sketch Sunday and choose this sketch.

Here is my inspiration for you.  I used papers from the Echo Park Tis the Season paper pack.  The journaling cards make quick and easy card sentiments when your time is limited this time of year.  Just add a little bling and the card is finished.

Make sure you play along with us this month.  Check out the details HERE.

Day 4: 30 Days 30 Cards

Welcome to day 4 of the Memory Works 30 Days, 30 Cards!  I hope you are being inspired to create your own handmade Holiday cards.  There is so much talent among the ladies of the Memory Works Team Works Design Team and I am so glad that we get this opportunity to share with you ideas for your cards.  I am making my cards using My Minds Eye: Vintage Christmas.

I love the muted colors of this collection and the added glitter on some of the cardstock.  I got my sketch from Page Maps .  Here is my sketch:

And here is my card.  This is a great sketch for using up scraps of cardstock.  I inked the edges of the paper and added a red bit of bling. I hope you come back everyday to see the beautiful cards that the other ladies are making.

Thank you so much for visiting today!  Check out the 30 Days, 30 Cards page for information on submitting your cards and your chance to win a prize!!

Day 3: 30 Days, 30 Cards

Hi everyone and welcome to Day 3 of our 30 Days, 30 Cards.  I am happy to be here to show you another card idea.  My inspiration came from RetroSketches.  I was excited to see sleek simple lines for a quick and easy card.  Here is the sketch.
For my interpretation of the card, I started with some craft colored cardstock, followed by some My Mind's Eye Mistletoe Magic Washi Tape.  Then I added a few strips of paper from the Simple Stories December Documented - 6x6 Pad.  Next I used my die-cut machine and created the saying "Deck the Halls" and layered it off the paper a smidge with popdots.  I couldn't stop there so I added some We R Memory Keepers Red Baker's Twine followed by another die-cut of a wreath.  I love a little bling so I added Stickles in a few spots.  I might also mention I inked all the edges of the papers used, with Tim Holtz inks.
I hope you have enjoyed today's card and don't forget to come back tomorrow for some more inspiration from Design TeamMember Cathy.  Also, make sure you check out 30 Days, 30 Cards page and see how you can win a prize!
Keep on Scrappin'

Day 2: 30 Days, 30 Cards

Welcome to Day 2 of 30 Days, 30 Cards. I'm excited to share today's sketch and card inspiration!

I found this sketch on Split Coast Stampers. I love the sunburst on this card sketch and that is what made me choose it!
Here is my card I created based off of this sketch. I used the new Crate Paper: Bundled Up papers. I paired it with some gold as I'm a little addicted to it right now.
Here is a close-up. In the gold dotted ray, I used a dotted mask, embossing ink pad and gold glitter embossing powder. The base of the card is kraft paper.
Supplies: Crate Paper - Bundled Up (6x6 Paper Pad); Glitz Design - Finnley (Giant Rhinestones, Washi Tape); Crate Paper - Maggie Holmes Flea Market (Resin Flowers); Technique Tuesday October Kit of the Month Stamp, Gold Glitter Paper, Kraft Paper.

Thank you for stopping by today!! Join Janey tomorrow for another sketch!!

Check out the 30 Days, 30 Cards page for information on submitting your cards and your chance to win a prize!!

30 Days, 30 Cards Begins.......NOW!

                Let the fun begin!

Jenn here with the first of the 30 Days, 30 Cards posts.  I am so excited to get this event started.  I am looking forward to seeing all your card creations.  Imagine the pile of hand-made holiday cards you'll have to send to family, friends, and favorite people.

So without further ado, here is sketch number one, from The Deconstructed Sketch:

                                                       DS06
And here is what I  came up with:

I used papers from Echo Park Reflections Christmas with an ornament die cut from another project and some baker's twine from my stash.  Stamp is from My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas line.

Here's a couple of ideas for this challenge:

I chose kraft colored card stock for all my backgrounds.  I like a vintage look and the kraft plays well with everything.

Limit the supplies you pull out.  The more you have to look through, the longer it will take to complete the cards.  I stuck to a few lines, stamps, and dies.

Pull out those 6x6 paper pads.  Perfect for card making.

Use up those scraps!  You'll soon notice I used up a lot of Handmade Christmas, and This & That scraps and papers, as well as making use of every bit of scrap, die cuts, brads and doo-dads I had in my Christmas scrap bag.  Feels good using those bits, so I can buy some more.

I followed the Keep It Simple Strategy (KISS), I didn't over-think, over-layer, over-ink or even try to come up with anything unique or particularly clever when using the sketches.  I tried to stay true to the sketch and if I didn't have the exact shape, went with what I had at hand.  Sometimes I get caught up in trying to out-sketch the sketch, if you know what I mean.  Not this year.  I wanted to finish, not get caught up in the details.

Relax and enjoy the challenge.  One of my favorite thoughts--"The bigger the mess, the more fun I'm having."

So, if you've made it though this far, what's in it for you when you participate?  Check it out!   Link to the 30 Days, 30 Cards page using the link on the left hand-side tool bar. You'll be entered to win a prize for every card you make using Memory Works product.  You'll have fun.  You'll have 30 one-of-a-kind holiday cards to send to the folks on your list.  It's a win-win-win no matter how you look at it.  So let's see what you come up with.
