Guest Designer Tues: Heidi's Scrap Space!

Happy Tuesday fellow Scrappers!

Well, it is my turn to share my scrap space. I must say it is nothing fancy, but it is mine and that is the best part! It's my perfect little corner in this big wide world to scrap! For, years I had my scrapbook stuff in tubs and had to drag them out of the hall closet every time I wanted to play. Then my scrapbook stuff migrated into the office and we took over the "computer desk" because I bought the family a laptop...wink wink! It was a love hate relationship because the computer desk was huge and bulky and ugly, but I scrapped away on it for years! Then I had a genius idea to buy storage cubes when they were on sale because I knew I could convince my husband to build me a desktop and use the cubes as a base! So, I cleaned out the office and put all the cubes together and presented the idea to him! Well, I should of known better because he immediately asked, "What's wrong with that desk?" Yep, you got it he convinced me to put the cubes on the ugly desk! However, I had to admit that it was a dang good idea in the end because the desk was deep enough it still gave me a great area to work on and all of my cubes are up high! My husband is now telling me to quit adding cubes because he thinks the desk will give in and break. I personally think this ugly, bulky, yard sale find of a desk will never break!

I also have a 6 foot table to store stuff on and under!

I have made this my perfect little corner. I have added inspiration to every nook and cranny! The old red chair in the picture was my Grandma Faye's chair..I have great memories of her and that chair! Now, my kids love to sit in it and draw. I have added pictures and vinyl lettering to my cubes! And of course, my trusty camera bag is always near by...you just never know when you will get that next great shot because you know my brain only thinks in layouts! Inspiration Friday: Sandy's latest projects

Hello cyber-friends! I've been creating with some fun new MemoryWorks products and have some projects to share with all of you!

First, I combined the July MemoryWorks Express kit (background paper, banners, red and blue stickers, cardstock) and brown letter stickers from the June MW Express kit with some Simple Stories Elementary papers (striped paper) and stamps (label) to create this layout:
I think I will be using the label stamp a LOT in the future! A little blue ink rubbed on the chipboard stars from the July Express kit add a little depth and a distressed look:
Stickers adhere nicely to the canvas banners...I LOVED this element of the kit - so cute, so many possibilities!
Next, I made a simple layout using all elements from the July Express kit plus a lined stamp from from my home stash:
I adhered a couple of the stars with pop-dots for some texture. I just love using pins on my layouts...I stuck this one through a die-cut piece from the kit:
This week I have been able to try out some of the BRAND NEW Simple Stories/Unity stamps -and I am completely enamored! I admit that I was a little leery at first...I've become an acrylic stamp junkie (my poor wood mounted stamps are now in the "kid" craft pile) and wasn't sure how I'd feel about using rubber stamps again. Even though these cling to an acrylic block, they're not clear...and I am more than a little stamp-challenged when it comes to lining up images! Turns out I had NOTHING to worry about - these are easy to use, are cut close enough to the edge of the image that they're easy to line up and stamp amazingly clear images!They ROCK!

I created this fun card using the Banner stamp, a little twine and some leftover paper pieces from the February Express kit:
Pop-dots finish off the look, allowing the little banners to "float" and curl a little:
Last up is a totally different look, made with the Creative Imaginations Superhero theme kit and die-cuts, plus some Echo Park Playground letter stickers. Here is the front:

Product Wednesday: TeamWorks Member of the Month Intro

Sharon Hill – TeamWorks Media Team


Sharon has been scrapbooking for about 12 years. She has been a TeamWorks member since Jan 2009 and has been a consultant with MemoryWorks since December 29, 2007. Her scrapbooking style is eclectic and all of her projects have to be perfect. When Sharon isn’t scrapbooking, or doing other papercrafting, she loves photography, altering items, crocheting and plastic canvas. Sharon favorite brands include BoBunny, BasicGray, Fancy Pants, and Ranger Ink. She loves learning new techniques and her favorite is distressing and inking. Sharon started MemoryWorks as a hobbyist and then decided to expand into a business January 2009. She attends a monthly crop at a local community center as a vendor. Sharon is a disabled Navy veteran and when she isn’t working per diem as a Radiology Technologist, she is home in East Bangor, PA with her 7 year old cat named Marvin.


I am glad to be a part of this month's Product Wednesdays. I get to share some of my ideas, projects, favorite product, and my scrap space this month with you all. So for now, you will all get a taste of my style by checking these projects I made.

Guest Designer Tues: Introducing Heidi Hooper!

My name is Heidi Hooper, and I’m so thrilled to be the Guest Designer at Memory Works for the month of July! I can’t think of more dynamic and energetic month to scrap away! I live in Bliss, Idaho with my husband (Tim), daughter (Libby), son (Gus), and our herd of show pigs. We live on a family farm and I am an elementary teacher and volunteer 4-H leader. I started scrapbooking my senior year of high school and immediately fell in love with it. I am the kind of person that has to get my hands on everything. Living in a rural community it was hard to stay on top of the hottest and latest products, so I find MemoryWorks to be a life saver! I hold scrapbooking very close to my heart! I have no pictures or documented memories from growing up, so I have dedicated myself to documenting the fun, sad, quirky, and life changing events of my children. I don’t get pre-occupied with card making or lots of altering project, and you can bet my scrappin’ girlfriends are the first to tease me about it! I have no particular style and just love embellishing in everything!..I can’t wait to share my art with you

This is my 4 year old son (Gus) posing with his pig “sno-cone” at a show! This picture is so much fun I wanted to make it the center piece. He was in his pee-wee class of showmanship and when he received his ribbon..he had to celebrate with his pig! I used Fancy Pants Paper -Father Like Son- and crate paper buttons and stickers! -I Am Currently Addicted to Buttons-

My other bundle of inspiration…Libby! She is a farm girl who can’t wait to move to LA! It doesn’t matter where she is at because she is always covered in bling and in the brightest clothes. I used Basic Grey’s colorful and fun loving Hopscotch line to capture her bright and beautiful nature!

Inspiration Friday: Meet Sandy!

Hello everyone! I'm Sandy Zent, a MemoryWorks TeamWorks member. I am excited to be spending the next 5 Fridays sharing inspiration and ideas with you! A little about myself:





I am a stay-at-home Mom of 5 who is obsessed with DIY (I have been known to sound like my 2 year old..."No! I do it myself!"). Canning, sewing, decorating, gifting...you name it, if I can make it myself (and usually my own way - who wants to use boring instructions and patterns, right?!), I will! Scrapbooking, card making and general paper crafting has become the perfect creative outlet - and allows me to do a lot of those DIY projects at home. I also enjoy date nights with my hubby, family movie and pizza nights, reading, yoga and learning how to do new things for my home or hobbies.

I have been scrapping for almost 20 years! The early years were full of scary materials such as construction paper, Pentel markers and rubber cement...but that first church project has since blossomed (and turned acid-free!)! I discovered MemoryWorks 6 years ago...and the rest is history! I have been on the MemoryWorks Creative Team for 4 years, two as the team co-leader.

I'd describe my scrapping style as "OCD Casual" - lots of layering and casual touches...with a very obvious OCD tendency to make a project just right! Here is a recent project, using the June MemoryWorks Express kit and a little Simple Stories Destinations:

I almost always use handwritten journaling...not because I'm crazy about my handwriting, but usually because I'm too impatient to do anything else!

I love the challenge of putting together something new and creative...especially creating special layouts documenting my family memories as well as projects my family can use in everyday life.
