Challenge Me Wednesday-Love is in the Air

Hi, it's Lynn again. Today I am sharing a project inspired by Christy's

I made this accordian album with a few sheets of Kraft cardstock cut to 6 x 12, scored down the middle, and adhered back to back.

Creative Card Saturday Evening...

I almost forgot to post Creative Card Saturday, shame on me!! So I hope you don't mind the Evening Edition :) Both of my cards are Valentine/Love themed and were created using the Memory Works Express Kit from January.

This cards was inspired by a layout that I recently made for the Monthly Challenge on the Studio.

I was keeping it simple and stuck to using just scraps for this card. It really is a great way to put your leftovers to use and brighten some one's day with a handmade card.

Inspiration Friday - Simple Stories Generations

Hi! I'm back this week to share some projects made with my current favorite product line. Maybe it's because I just got it recently, or maybe it's because I like it more than I thought I would...but I'm loving Simple Stories' Generations collection. I don't do a lot of heritage-type scrapbook pages, I scrap mainly about my kids. But, there is so much more to this collection than that...and, it compliments the month of February perfectly!

This first page is actually the one I created this month's Corporate Website Inspiration, but I wanted to show it with photos and journaling.

These photos are of my baby sister and her fiance. They are getting married in September. You can find the full instructions to make this layout your own here.

The next project is a card made with one of the photo transparencies.

Remember:

I just trimmed the length down to 5.5, and sandwiched the transparency between cardstock and patterned paper on the top, and on the bottom. Then, I added some stickers and rhinestones. The little card on the inside for the sentiment is from the 6x6 paper pad.

The colors match my living room very nicely, so I made this last project to sit on top of my piano.

Family:

It is a 5x7 frame, and was the perfect size for a little patterned paper, one of the 4x6 photo mats, a journaling card, and a few embellishments.

That's it, I hope I have given you a few fresh ideas to use with your Generations kit!

For Christmas, my husband gave me a paper rack. I have my paper organized in color families.

My markers are organized in Copic marker wallets. Open, I am able to see all the colors. When I go to a class or crop, i just close the wallets and place in my Crop in Style navigator.

And, if you have a pet, this picture probably looks very familiar to you.
This is my crafting kitty companion, Zoe.

Challenge Me Wednesday: Altered Index Card Box (Sweet Treats Box)

I made this from a plastic index card box that you can get from any office supply store. You will need a strong adhesive and it is better to shape your paper around the curves/bends before you adhere it down. This will help the paper to stay in place better. You can fill the box with your recipient’s favorite candy, like Hershey Kisses or M&Ms. And for those men out there looking for a way to give their sweetie something sparkly, they could hide the piece of jewelry (necklace, engagement ring hint hint ;), bracelet) in with the candy. And don’t forget to line the inside of the box with pink tissue paper before placing the candy inside the box. After all, the inside of the box has to look pretty to.;)

Creative Cards Saturday

Happy Saturday!! Are you ready for another edition of Creative Cards Saturday? Well, Valentine's Day is right around the corner so I wanted to share a few Valentine inspired cards with you today. Either of these cards would be great to send to someone you love! Check them out below...

Be Mine Valentine

For this one I used some of my left overs from my Simple Stories- 100 Days of Summer kit. You don't have to used Valentine themed paper to create cute Valentine cards! This is a great way to use up some of your left overs (scraps) from other projects!

Sending My Love

For this one I used Jillibean Soup- Christmas Eve Chowder and Apple Cheddar Soup. Again non- Valentine themed paper. I also added some tags to this card. Lately I have been using them on everything. Do you ever find yourself reusing them same product over and over again?

Hi! I'm back with my first post for 2012! I'm excited to be a part of TeamWorks again this year, and even more excited to show off some of my recent projects. My first is a layout created with Simple Stories' 100 Days of Summer collection. Now, I know my seasons are a bit off...but it's what I'm working on right now :)

I never get tired of using this line of products, so bright and cheerful :) And, even though it comes with some amazing letter stickers, I've barely used them...because of all the alternative title options in the collection.

My next two projects are also layouts, this time using Crate Paper's Toybox collection.

Creative Cards Saturday & A Scraplift

Hello again! Jody here and I'm back for my second edition of Creative Cards Saturday. I scoured the Memory Works consultant gallery for inspiration and saw so many that got my creative juices flowing! Since my assignment is cards, I wanted a project that wasn't really a card but that I could use as a base for my card. I found this great photo wallet project created by Memory Works Consultant Tammy Clecker. I thought, "what a cute and fun birthday card that could be!"

So, after Tammy kindly agreed to have her project used as my inspiration, here's what I came up with. I made a fun folding birthday card. Here are the dimensions; cardstock base 10" x 5", scored at 1", 4" and 7". All of the patterned papers inside the card are trimmed just short of 5" and 3". The patterned paper band is about 2 1/2" wide and was made simply by wrapping a length of patterned paper around the finished fold out card and then secured after achieving the desired fit.

I used a mix of different paper lines including October Afternoon Sidewalks Theme, 100 Days of Summer Designer cardstock and stickers, American Crafts cardstock, Dear Lizzy Crochet Flowers & brad, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Bo Bunny & Basic Grey alpha stickers and cute birthday greeting stamp.

Dress up the patterned paper band with a punched shape and other layers embellishments. Don't forget to ink the edges for some added dimension.

When you first unfold the card, you'll see the gift card pocket revealed and the beginning of the birthday greeting.

Unfold the card some more for more fun embellishments and the rest of the birthday greeting. There's still plenty of room to write a special message to the birthday boy or girl.

Inspiration Friday-Journaling Jots

The product I wanted to highlight today are these fun Journaling jots that are part of the Simple Stories Elementary line. Of course you could use them for journaling on your pages but I wanted to suggest a few other ways to use them as well.

For this layout of my daughter's 100th day of school, I used some of the journaling jots as accents or embellishments. I grabbed a handful of them, lined them up, and then sewed them down to the page. I bent the tops and bottoms of the journaling jots just to add a bit more texture.

Supplies used: Simple Stories Elementary Teacher's pet paper, Elementary Report card paper, Elementary Journaling jots, Elementary Expressions Cardstock stickers, American Crafts Elementary coordinating cardstock pack, Ranger distress ink (vintage photo), sewing machine and thread

This would make a super easy gift to make and give. I simply wrapped a Hershey's candy bar up with cardstock, put a journaling jot on top and popped it up with a pop-up glue dot!!

Supplies Used: Hershey's candy bar, Elementary Bookworm paper, Elementary Journaling jost, Pop-Up Glue dots

For this card I used a journaling jot and just added a simple thank you greeting to it.

"Challenge Me Wednesday"

Happy Wednesday! It's Lynn coming back to share some projects with you. The first week in January I announced the "Mix It Up!" Challenge at the MemoryWorks Studio for consultants. Well, our creative peeps have been doing just that! The idea is to use at least 3 products from 3 different manufacturers to make a card, layout, or altered item. First, I would like to share this card made my Karen Seifert.

I love this mix of neutrals, grounded by the black matting that brings it all together.

Creative Cards Saturday

Howdy Scrappers! It's Jody here and I'm happy to be hanging out with you for Creative Cards Saturday. This is my first assignment as a Design Team member and I'm super excited! I wanted to share some easy ways to add texture to your projects without adding too much bulk.

Now if you're like me, you don't want your special cards to get ruined while traveling via the USPS (U.S. Postal Service), right? Right! The rule of thumb for the USPS is the envelop has to fit through their little thickness tester, which is a quarter inch slot, in order for there NOT to be any extra postage charge for a thick envelop. This quarter inch of space also allows for the envelopes to be fed through the machine without being damaged. Sometimes I feel like the Post Master at my local Post Office grabs that darn thing as soon as he sees me walk in!

Solutions! One way to add texture without adding all that bulk is to use burlap string or bakers twine. Memory Works carries the WRMK Bakers Twine in wide variety of colors, along with the awesome Sew Easy Tool. You'll also find burlap string in some of the monthly Express Kits. This small addition can add a nice touch of texture and depth to your cards and other projects.

A second way to add dimension is by using 'pop-dots.' I used the American Crafts Dimensional Tabs to give my punched cloud element a little lift off the card. I also inked the edges to give them more definition. I used both techniques on the card below.

Hint: When tying a knot or bow with burlap string or baker's twine, put a small dab of Glossy Accents onto the center and your bow or knot won't come loose.

Another great way to add some texture and shine to your cards, or any other project, is by using Ranger's Glossy Accents. Just use the bottle tip to dispense a small amount onto a die cut (or hand cut) element, sticker, stamped image, flower or whatever your heart desires. Glossy Accents dries fast and adds a pretty shine to spice up your project. You can also use Ranger's Crackle Accents for a unique cracked effect as well. Did you know that Glossy Accents is a super strong adhesive also? This great product can do some serious double duty as a part of your scrapping supplies. I can't scrap without it!

Another way to add some texture is to curl the edges of your paper. I love this technique and use it to add a vintage feel to my projects. All you need is a little water and your fingers! I used my aqua pen to run some water along the edges of the paper, then used my fingers to gently curl the paper. So simple!

Hello!! I'm Caroline Piercy and I am excited to be a member of TeamWorks this year. Today I'll be sharing a little bit about me and a few projects as well. I live in a small farming town in Royal City, WA. My husband farms and does construction and I am a Stay-at-home mom. We have 4 kids that are 9, 7, 3, and 1 who keep me plenty busy and who are the subjects of the majority of my scrapbook pages. I have been scrappin' off and on for almost 15 years now. I love the creative process of scrapping and love to watch my kids look through their albums too. I am more of a simple scrapper and tend to use a lot of distressing, inking, and sewing on my layouts. I also love to read, sew, quilt and cook/bake for the family. I'm looking forward to a great scrapping year in 2012 and hope that you are too!! My projects today are both from Lily Bee lines, one of my favorite scrapping companies. Both are of my oldest son, Tyler, on some of his adventures!

Mixing It Up with the January Challenge

HELLO fellow scrappers and greetings from frigid NYC. I am so very excited to be part of this year's TeamWorks Team. Today is my turn to share my creation for Challenge me Wednesday.

I really enjoyed this challenge because it got me thinking about using my stash a bit more. It's also the reason I love the MW Express Kit subscription. It allows me to be more versatile in my creativity and utilize products from a host of manufacturers.

Below, I introduce you to my muse, Mr. Ethan. He is being raised in front of the camera. Except for some very few moments of moodiness, he is always ready to say cheese. If you attended the MW retreat in June 2011, then you will remember this adorable apron we all got. Ethan wants to know why I use it at my table instead of in the kitchen and then asked if he could borrow it so that he could be a "chef-cooker" with his dad. How could I say no to that?

Creative Cards Saturday {CCS2}

The other day, I came across this lovely project made by Susan Nichols. It inspired me to get out my Simple Stories: Baby Step supplies. The colors are so soft and can be used for boys or girls.

Here is the card I made. It was fun to cut out the onesies and banners to make a cute clothesline. After I made the clothesline, it was onto designing the rest of the card.

Creative Friday - Favorite Product

I'm back! This week I will be sharing my favorite product that MemoryWorks currently carries. It was hard to make up my mind on WHAT my favorite product was, but I kept going back to this darling line by Lily Bee Design. Head over Heels is perfect for not only Valentine's projects, but every day projects as well!

I'm addicted to 6x6 paper pads. I love working with the size for everything from cards to 12 x 12 layouts and mini albums. I actually used a 6x6 paper pad for the project I'm sharing today.

Hand Cut Hearts

I flooded this layout with hearts and Tattered Angels mist. Here are a few ideas to add to your layouts or cards.

I made a weaved element for the page by cutting 1/2" strips of pattern paper and weaved it together.

I also hand cut hearts to attached to the layout. I had a good time cutting out these hearts and layering them together. I folded a piece of pattern paper in half and cut my heart, I was okay with the crease being in the middle so i could pop the hearts from the page.

I also used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to add some color to the piece of cardstock. I used 3 different shades of pink / coral on the cardstock.

You may notice in the image above that there is a 6 x 12 strip of pattern paper on the background. I used 2 matching 6x6 pieces of pattern paper to make 1 long 6 x 12 strip. See why I LOVE 6x6 paper pads!?!

Challenge Me Wednesday--Mix it Up!

It's Challenge me Wednesday and I'm featuring my take on this month's challenge-- Mix it Up! Finding papers and other supplies from a variety of manufacturers and incorporating them into my work is something I do all the time. I love to use up my odd bits and scraps and this kind of challenge is right up my alley. Thanks Lynn for a fun kick-off challenge.

This layout features papers from Crate paper, LillyBee, Authentique and Simple Stories, and embellishments from the same lines along with October Afternoon. It's all spelled out below. I liked how the colors from their clothing, skin tones and front door are in these papers and the flower background makes me thing happy thoughts, and moving into a new home is a very happy thought indeed.

Since the papers and embellishments were already out, I made a couple of quick ATCs which can go in my ATC collection or be used as an embellishment on a page or to create a card or tag. I used products from the same lines as above, and added some Stickles to the butterfly and rose chip boards for a bit of dazzle. The paper flower here and above in the layout were made the same way--I used a Marvy-Uchida flower punch and punched several scraps. I inked the edges and crumpled up the flowers. Using a brad as a center I combined several flowers, crumpled the top flower for texture and adhered with a glue dot. This quick and easy flower uses up scraps and adds the perfect finishing touch.

Here is my final card for today--it was a lot of fun to make. My favorite part of the whole card is the 2.14 on the paper--what a fun detail to add to the paper design. If I were to do it differently, I would skip the distressing or do less. Smiles.

Welcome to the FIRST Creative Friday of 2012!

I'm Lacey Igo, leader of the MemoryWorks TeamWorks team. I'm so excited about this year and for the team to share their wonderful talents with everyone and inspire you! I live in Moorhead, MN (across the river from Fargo) with my boyfriend of 8 years Matt. We have 2 nephews (my brother's kids) and 1 niece (Matt's brother's daughter). I've been scrapbooking for over 10 years, but crafting and photo taking has always been a huge part of my life. Besides scrapbooking, I love to knit and crochet, I dabble in photography and I dance (Jazz, Hip Hop & Lyrical). This past fall I decided to go back to school to get a 2nd BFA. This time around I'm going to school for Graphic Design. I work full time as an office manager as a roofing company and help out at Gasper's School of Dance with their PR director. I look forward to share my passion and love of scrapbooking this year!

The project I created to share with you is with the newest addition to the Simple Stories family - Year.o.graphy. I created a mini album using a chipboard album that has been sitting in my stash for quite some time. I encourage you to go through your own stash and find something you tossed to the side with an intention to use it and break it out! Use it! ;)

I inserted some of my own 4x6 pages within the album and used the 6x6 Year.o.logy paper pad to complete this album. I did this 2 years ago, made an album before the year began, and filled it with pictures throughout the year of highlights. Check out more of my work on my blog (which has been neglected lately). January 2012 Challenge "Mix It Up!"

Happy 2012! This is Lynn sharing the first consultants' challenge of the year. We are calling it "Mix It Up!" Create a project (card, layout, or altered item) using at least 3 products from 3 different brands.
I had fun mixing up some Echo Park "Times & Seasons" with Lily Bee "Harvest Market" to create this double-page layout.

I added some Crate Paper border stickers from "Farmhouse Collection" and topped it off with some Simple Stories (Year.o.graphy bingo card and 25 Days of Christmas sticker). The alpha stickers are all from the Echo Park line and the journaling pieces from Lily Bee. This challenge is a great stash buster as you can pull items from different collections. This time of year I always like to go through my stash and use things up so I can order some new MemoryWorks products! If you want to try this challenge on a smaller scale...make a card.

Guest Designer Tuesday - Jody Speigelhoff's Paper Bag Mini Album Tutorial

Big sigh.........ah, Christmas is over and we can take a deep breath finally. I don't know about you, but I was still wrapping presents at midnight on Christmas Eve. That's par for the course in our house! Now that things are settling down, I'd like to share a little project with you. I'm more of a layout girl usually, but I made a few of these mini albums using small paper bags. I'd like to take you through how I make mine. Along with some simple instructions, there are some step by step photos to show you what I'm talking about.

Here's the front of the paper bag mini I made for my Mom after a trip to the pumpkin farm before Abby was born. Hard to believe there's paper bags under there, huh! Here's what I started with: 8 small paper bags {mine are 4x8"}, strong tape adhesive such as Provo Craft Terrifically Tacky Tape or your ATG, chipboard, patterned papers, ribbons, ink, canvas {optional} and Glossy Accents. My chipboard covers are cut to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I used Bella's Finally Fall line, some Simple Stories, Bazzill and Simple Stories Ribbons along with some accents from a past Express Kit, and canvas that was masked and spray heavily with glimmer mists and allowed to dry.

Step 1: Put 1 paper bag on your work surface in front of you with the open end on the right. Lift up the flap (which is the bottom of the bag) and place adhesive as shown in the picture. I marked the bags with a green maker where adhesive should be placed. Then fold that flap over and crease the fold very well. Repeat this step for all 8 of you paper bags. Take two paper bags and set them aside. These two bags will be your front and back. NOTE: you can make a thinner or thicker album, 8 is my preference for overall thickness. Just gather an even number of bags for you album. My numbers and directions are based on an album using 8 paper bags.

Step 2: Next, take 3 bags and while the flap is folded over, put adhesive as shown, then put additional tape adhesive to cover the rest of the flap. Take the other 3 bags without adhesive on the flap and one at time line up an adhesive covered flap with a non-adhesive covered flap. Adhere two bags together to create whats shown in the third photo. This will create 3 sets of two bags that are attached by the small flaps in the middle.

Step 3: Next you'll need to adhere the sides of your bags so they don't open up completely. These pockets created by adhering the sides of bags will be homes for you journaling and photo tags.

**This is the point where I begin to cover my bag sets with my patterned papers. You can leave the flaps in the middle loose or adhere them down to their respective sides to create additional pocket for your tags or photos. You can also make your pockets more defined by using a circle punch to notch out the pocket further.

Step 4: Next, you'll want to start assembling your paper bag sets to create your album. Take your paper bag sets and cover the backsides of them (opposite the flaps) with adhesive as shown by the green marker lines. Adhere the paper bag sets together on the backsides, and press firmly together. Then take your 2 bags that were previously set aside and adhere them as shown to the two outer bags, leaving the flap on the outside of the album. The two flaps on the outside of the album will be where you attach your chipboard covers. **NOTE: You may want to cover your chipboard before adhering them to the album. This will make decorating easier also.

Step 5: Cover the outside of the flap, similar to in step 2 and adhere the chipboard cover as shown. You can continue to decorate your album as desired, or you can add a canvas cover over your chipboard. Don't forget to ink all the edges!

Extra step: To cover your album in canvas, just cut your canvas about a 1/4" wider than the width of your chipboard covers. This is too allow for the canvas shrinking if you paint it and for the fraying of the edges, which looks pretty cool too! I don't always cover the chipboard completely, as in the Fall Mini Album. I like the combination of canvas and the patterned papers, so I usually wrap the canvas around the spine of the album and cover about half of the chipboard. The canvas shown in my example was painted with acrylic paint, using some stickers as masks for flowers. To adhere the canvas to the cover, I used a strong liquid tacky glue.

Express Kit Monday: Vintage Findings Consultant Projects

Hope all of you had a joyous weekend and ready to start a new year this weekend! I know I am, but also a bit sad as I say goodbye to TeamWorks. This is my final post of the year, yet I can't wait to cheer on the new team!

Speaking of the new team, I'd like to share a few 'Vintage Findings' cards by Jody Spiegelhoff, a member of the 2012 TeamWorks Team and also this month's Guest Designer.

You may have seen the group photo of Jody's cards last week, but since she did an awesome job creating with this month's MemoryWorks Express Kit, I figured we could have another look at them...

Guest Designer Tuesday: Jody's Express Kit projects

Happy Tuesday everyone! I'm back with my Express Kit projects for December 2011. I had a great time creating with this cute kit. I spent a lot of time on the mini book, which I created using the 6 coin envelopes in the kit. Needless to say, after creating the mini book with tag inserts, a layout and 4 cards I have just scraps left of my kit! I think I'll make a few more cards....enjoy!

For this layout I used water to distress and curl the edges of my paper. I also cut and 'X' in the lower right corner and made a window by rolling back the triangles created by the cuts. Again, I used water to curl the edges back. After all the edges were dry, I inked them up using my trusty Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Walnut Stain) and Blending Tool Applicator! I then mounted the patterned paper base onto brown cardstock to frame the layout. The layout came together pretty quickly after that. I love to use banners on my projects. I hand cut these from the patterned paper, inked them up. I also added some natural jute rope, American Crafts Thickers and a few pearls. I also cut apart the crochet trim to make it go further and adhered with Ranger Glossy Accents... love that stuff!

I had lots of fun creating this mini album using the 6 coin envelopes included in this months Express Kit. The size of the envelopes is 6 1/2" by 3 1/2" and are a dark manila color. Don't have these envelopes or a December Express Kit you say?? You can easily use the envelopes you get from your bank! Just upcycle and alter away! These types of envelopes are so versatile to alter, making the possibilities endless.

Finishing touches on the front cover:

~I made a little trinket chain using burlap string, the mini spools, wooden buttons and a sculpted flower. I also used the intricate wood veneer piece in two ways. First, I used it as a base for the pretty vintage flower, then as a photo mat on the other side. The rest of cover is pretty simple. I upcycled some chipboard from product packaging and used two sided Scotch tape and Glossy Accents to adhere my patterned paper to it. Then, I cut out the butterfly from the patterned paper in the kit and put a heavy coat of Glossy Accents on it. I added 3 pearls down the middle and popped up the wings for some added dimension. I also added Maya Road small rosette trim after I Glimmer Misted it with Sunflower. The ribbon closure was done by threading the ribbon through two stacked glitter buttons, leaving one end very long. I tied a simple knot on top and hot glued it in place. I repeated this for the back cover also, but only used one button layer.

Inside the coin envelope mini:

~I cut some of the flaps off the envelopes to add tags with a bulkier pull tab on top.The stickers not included in the Express Kit that I used are from Cosmo Cricket (last season) and the Kraft pockets are from Canvas Corp. I used the Unity Stamps: Just A Note, Delight in the Little Things and Calendar Month.

I made my cards after creating my coin envelope mini book and layout. I like to make the most of the papers I have and use my scraps. Adding simple touches like a border punch, twine or burlap string adds a hint of texture without getting too bulky.

Inspiration Friday- Christmas Cards

Guest Designer Tuesday: Jody's Scrap Space!

Hi there! I'm back with a tour of my scrappy corner. My husband, Brad, finished our basement 3 1/2 years ago and made sure I had a well lit area to work in. Prior to that, I would work at the kitchen table after hauling a bunch of stuff out of my travel, rolly bag. Thank goodness I have a handy hubby!! There are can lights above my work area, as well as a light on the pegboard workbench. My scrap corner over looks were our girls spend lots of time playing, or creating things at their little art desk.

Here's my over all work area. As you can probably tell, I'm mainly a stand up scrapper. I found these great workbenches at Sam's Club a few years ago. Attached to the 4 foot bench is a steal pegboard which I love for holding my 'go to' supplies & tools. These include adhesives, squeeze punches, a few new embellishments, some kids supplies, Glimmer Mists & other spray inks. You can refer to the labels in the photos.

The white corner shelves to the right of the pegboard, I found at Michael's on clearance a couple years ago. They were less than $4 each!! Gotta love a sale! I love that these shelves give me some added storage without taking away much of my work space on my benches. I labeled this picture with where I keep certain supplies.

I also stacked two wooden shelf units that my Dad made for me to save room for my girls art desk. The top unit is where I store and display the majority of my ribbon. I've found that displaying my ribbon in color groups works best for me, plus its just plain pretty!

The top shelf of the lower unit is where I keep my Cricut & Jukebox. Then on the next shelf I keep a lot of cardstocks & construction papers for my girls to use. The white cubby to the left is theirs. The white cubby to the right holds all my kraft, white and black cardstocks, as well as all my sheet music for cutting up. The bottom shelf is just for my girls punches, ribbons, stamps and kids ink pads (yes, I live dangerously keeping ink pads on the lowest shelf. Hey, it's washable!) Next to the big wood bookshelf is a small white unit. This is where I keep my Cricut Cartridges and all my ink pads.

This is where I keep the majority of my embellishments, papers, stamps, letter stickers, Sizzix Texture Boutique & embossing folders, 6x6" pads and more. Everything has a home by category. I also keep my Big Shot, fabrics, sewing stuff, WRMK Cinch & their respective supplies in a separate area close-by {not pictured}.

Hello everyone (Shirelle Stadel) I have been scrapbooking for 10 years and have been a MemoryWorks consultant since 2008. I (Shirelle) reside in Aberdeen, SD; since there isn’t a lot to do in Aberdeen I spend a lot of time scrapbooking. I have three daughters and I enjoy scrapbooking each and every moment of their life. Mostly so I can blackmail them when they are older (lol). Some of my favorite products/tools are Simple Stories, Bella Blvd, Authentique, Pink Paisley,and all the tools from, We R Memory Keepers, and of course anything else by MemoryWorks! I began as a consultant for my own personal use and I have discovered how much I love the company and the products they carry. I love to create altered projects and home décor for my, family and friends. My style of scrapbooking changes as the products and styles change. Most days I want to redo everything with the hot new items on the market.

Sadly this is my last month for the year of posting on the blog or creating for the Memory Works Team. I missed the deadline for the :( for application due to life. I also believe that God has some great plans for me in the upcoming year and missing the deadline was His way of letting me know. :) With that said I will miss the team, but I can not wait for what is in store for the new team and within Simple Stories and Memory Works.

All of the team members have been so inspiring and have been so supportive and encouraging that I will miss them, and of course knowing all the good stuff before the rest of the Memory Works community. This is a great company that is (in my opinion) going to grow massively.

For the last month I plan to utilize the Fancy Pants Journal, and do some easy quick make and take journals utilizing the new Year.O.Graphy! I hope you will all love it and will use this to journal the up coming new year!

Happy Holidays everyone! I’m Jody Spiegelhoff and so excited to be your guest designer this month. What can I say? I love to scrapbook! I started out stamping and making cards in 2003, thanks to my BFF Jenn Bennett. My obsession for patterned paper, ribbon, ink and all things scrappy quickly grew and now has its own scrappy corner in our home. My favorite scrapbook models include our 5 daughters and my husband. Yes, that number is correct, FIVE daughters age’s newborn to 13. As you can imagine, I have lots of inspiration.

I’ve been a Memory Works consultant since 2006 and enjoy being a part of this community. I love the variety of products that MW offers, along with the networking found on MW Studio. I used the letter stickers as a mask and traced around them to achieve this fun look:

I used Ranger's Glossy Accents to cover the Elementary Letter Stickers:

The text paper circles were punched from a real Webster's Dictionary that I picked up at Goodwill for 50 cents! I just used corresponding words that helped enhance the meaning of the layout. I inked the edges and over the text paper slightly with Color Box Chalk in Creamy Brown.

Product Wednesday - Some of My Favorite Things

Here we are, the last day of November! Can you believe it? The holiday season is in full swing and if you have been good this year, I know you are busy making out your wish list. I wanted to take today to share with you some of my favorite things available from MemoryWorks that I am putting on my wish list.

First up is the Year.O.Graphy Kit ($20.99) by Simple Stories. I am in love with this kit and already planning how I will create an album to document all of 2012 using this kit!

6x6 Paper Pads! I love them, they are perfect for layouts and cards! I'm really liking this Crate Paper Farmhouse theme right now but I'd be happy with any of the MemoryWorks 6x6 Paper Pads.

SMASH, need I say more? The coolest thing ever! Just love these little books and all of their accessories!

Unity Stamps! I love this Precious Little One set because I am working on my daughter's baby album (using the Simple Stories Baby Steps collection of course) but all of the Unity Stamps are just too beautiful!

The Sew Easy was "Sew" much fun (I just can't resist a pun) that I cannot wait to try the Sew Ribbon! I really think these new tools will make a huge impact on my cards and layouts!

Product Wednesday - Scrap Space Tour

Today I wanted to take a minute to show you my creative space. I moved over the summer and got a brand new space to create in! It's definitely different from my last space which looked like this:

This is my new space and you'll see I had to get a little more creative with it.

This space was originally a storage closet off of our media room which is where our family spends most of their time. Because of the small space (4' 10" x 3' 8") I had to get a new desk and say good bye to my bookcase.

My new desk is a small students desk but it suits my purposes, I just have to be careful to not get too many projects going at once.

The desk has two small shelves that I use for storage. I keep my most used items towards the front (Cuttlebug, paper trimmer, Crop-a-Dile, small embellishment boxes etc) and the seldom used items tucked away in the back.

In a small space every inch counts so I like to make sure everything I use often is close and within reach.

On the left side of my desk I tucked away my scraps holder. It's a 12x12 accordion style case that I sort scraps by color and then a section for patterned paper. I use my scraps all the time so I keep them close. I also put my score board here because I'm always using it for something.

Underneath my desk I keep my magazines and catalogs that I use for inspiration as well as extra items that don't have a home else where.

With small spaces you have to think vertically. This closet came with a high shelf already installed.

This is where I keep very rarely used items like materials I have collected for later projects, my baby Cricut I take to crops, extra business supplies etc.

Above my desk I put in two small shelves that I discovered when we moved. They weren't being used and adding them gave me some additional storage. On the first shelf I keep my inks, punches and a box of odds and ins.

The second shelf has my flowers (in the glass jar with metal lid), projects in progress, a box of completed cards and my ribbons. There is also a jar hidden in the back right corner that holds my ribbon scraps.

In the floor by the door on the right side I have two large boxes. The black box shown here houses all of my paper - yep, that's it! I try to only buy paper that I have a plan for so I don't have a huge stash. In the front are my small paper pads (6x6, 8x8, 6x12 etc). Behind that are my 8 1/2 x 11 papers, then my 12x12 patterned paper and finally my 12x12 solids. The very back also holds the mats for my Cricut.

The pink box holds all of my stamps, yeah, that's ALL of my stamps. I tried to find different ways to house my stamps. For any cheap $1 stamps I used some CD cases I had laying around. Whoever first thought of this idea is a genius!

For my wood mounted stamps I tried a similar technique. I love to save cute containers. Especially ones I think I can get crafty with later. My husband always buys me these yummy chocolates for the holidays.

They come in these great plastic two part containers and I couldn't bare to throw them out. So I used them to house my wood mount stamps.

The stamps fit perfectly and the boxes store nicely on their side in my stamp box.

I also keep this peg board tucked beside my desk. I usually use this peg board at craft fairs but I don't have anywhere else to keep it between shows so I use it to hold packages of stickers and embellishments.

And no space is complete without a few things that just make you smile. Here are just a few things I keep around just to make me happy.

My Audrey Hepburn "Breakfast at Tiffany's" print. I just love Audrey! :)

Just a few trinkets I've collected over the years. The print on the back left is a mini painting I picked up at a local Italian Festival a few years ago. The picture on the right is an ATC business card from an artist I met at a craft fair. She made all of these adorable paintings with sheep doing funny things. This one is a sheep snorkeling. The coaster in the front on the left is from Europe. A lady I once worked with brought it back to me after a vacation she took. Last, but not least, the little tray on the right is from my favorite place, Disney World. I usually keep small embellishments that I have leftover from other projects here so I don't forget about them.

Inspiration Friday - Creative Space Tour

Friday is here...boy, these weeks are flying by quick. I'm back today to share some more organization tips from my scrap space. I shared a little bit about it back in April, you can see that post here.

It's not a huge space, so I have to be quite organized, and de-clutter often.

It's actually a computer cabinet with a fold out table. It has one large drawer, which is perfect for my 8.5x11 cardstock. I keep it all organized by color in file folders.

Which is very similar to the way I store my cards. I have this little storage container that I made some dividers for. I keep them all separated by categories. Birthday, baby, thank-you, etc...

I store all of my stickers by manufacturer. I keep them together on rings, so I can just flip through them.

Ok, that's it...just a few organization tips that help keep me sane :)

Product Wednesday - Project Idea

I know we haven't even celebrated Thanksgiving yet but I can't help it, Christmas is totally on my mind! I just love all of the beautiful decorations and with a 2 (almost 3) year old running around I'm really excited to see her eyes light up on Christmas morning! So today I want to share a quick little project with you to help you prepare for all of those packages I know you will soon be wrapping!

I originally saw this idea on my friend Brenda's blog "Rose Blossom Legacies". Brenda used a die cut machine cartridge to cut her tag but I wanted to provide an option that didn't involve a die cut machine. I also wanted to make as many tags as possible from as few supplies as possible.

For this project you will need:

(1) 8 1/2" x 11" solid cardstock

(1) 6" x 6" patterned paper (used Lily Bee Jingle Paper)

(1) 8 1/2" x 11" cream cardstock (optional depending on your tag cardstock color and preference)

(8) 6" lengths of twine or ribbon

(8) eyelets

Straight edge paper cutter

Crop-a-Dile

Embellishments and/or stamps of your choosing

You want to begin by cutting your 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock into two pieces measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". The easiest way to do this is to cut your paper in half on the 11" side.

Next you want to take each piece of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" paper and trim it to 5 1/2" x 4". You should end up with 4 pieces of paper measuring 5 1/2" x 4".

Take your 5 1/2" by 4" paper and cutting on the 5 1/2" side make a cut 2" down and 2" across. Do this on both sides of the paper for all 4 pieces of 5 1/2" x 4" paper.

You should end up with a piece that looks just like this:

You now want to make a cut in the middle of your paper connecting your two previous cuts. If done correctly you should end up with 8 pieces that look like this:

Now, fold the piece on the left side of each cut over so you end up with a rectangle with a square flap.

We are now going to create the tag top by cutting off the corners of our rectangle. Just free hand the first one and then use the piece you cut off as a guide for cutting the opposite side. This will keep your tag uniform.

To ensure all of my tags were the same, I used my first tag to create cut guides on all of my other tags. I just laid the first tag I cut on top of each of the other tags and drew a line with a pencil to give me a cutting guide. I then cut just to the inside of that line so I wouldn't have to do any erasing later.

Next, use your Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole and set an eyelet in the top of your tags.

Then cut eight 1 3/4" squares from your sheet of 6" x 6" patterned paper and eight 1 3/4" squares from your cream colored cardstock (I used a piece of scrap paper I had).

Attach the patterned paper to the front of your tags.

Attach the cream cardstock to the interior of your tags. I'm not a fan of writing on colored cardstock, I think it can be difficult to read so I lined my tags with smooth cream colored cardstock to make writing my Christmas wishes a little easier.

Embellish your tags and add a little twine and you now have 8 gift tags ready to go and not very much left over scrap paper!

I hope you are inspired to create your own gift tags for your packages this year! With 8 tags created out of just one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" paper you should have your holiday tags done in no time!

I was SOOOOO excited to play with the November Express Kit! I was pleased that I could use this kit to create some cute holiday cards and gifts!

This week I will share my layouts and a few of my mini cards, and next week I will share with you a cute recycled idea! I even dusted off my die cut machines this month! If you have a tool or gadget that is feeling unloved... please use it! Nothing is sadder than an unused tool!

These mini cards are going to make a great addition to my growing card pile! I love how easy they were to create!

Inspiration Friday - Lily Bee Design, Harvest Market

It's Friday! ....and I'm back to share with you the projects that I made with Lily Bee Design's Harvest Market collection. You can find the instructions to all three of my projects on the Memory Works website here. So, let's get started...

"Our Family" - 8.5x11 layout:

What's funny is, I had made this layout a head of time, knowing we were going to get pictures done. Without thinking about it, I included a turquoise and orange color into our wardrobe. Ok, maybe not 'funny', but it worked out well for me, anyway. Since I did make it ahead of time, I just left adhesive off of anything that was overlapping the picture area. I just added it after the pictures were on.

"Thankful" - card

This card came together very quickly, and easily. It was pretty obvious that I should do a 'Thank-You' card :) I was a little frustrated at first that the only little flowers I had left were yellow and purple...but, after I put them on there, I was pleased with how it turned out. Very fall-ish.

Product Wednesday - This to That Double Sided Tape and More!

I have a confession to make . . . I misled you. It wasn't intentional, I promise! You know how you get this great idea in your head and then when you sit down to do it, it all blows up in your face? No? You don't have that problem? Oh, well, I do . . . A LOT! Originally I was planning to do something today with the new Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists that is in the current MemoryWorks catalog. Alas, things did not go as planned so I apologize for misleading you last week. Hopefully what I am going to share with you will make up for it though.

Today I want to show you another use for a product (or products) that you probably already have at home. Are you familiar with Washi Tape? It's decorative tape and it's all the rage right now! I see it on cards, layouts and so many other projects. Did you know you can make your own Washi Tape? You'll need the following products:

* Distress Stain (I'm using Broken China)
* Distress Ink (I'm using Vintage Photo)
* Stamps
*American Crafts This to That Tape
* Tissue paper

First you will want to stick your American Crafts This to That Tape to the tissue paper.

Turn the paper over so you are inking the tissue paper and not the tape and color the paper. I am using Distress Stain in Broken China but you can use anything you like or you can skip this step and go straight to stamping.

Next, select the stamp image you would like to use and stamp onto your now colored tissue. Don't worry about the excess, we are going to get rid of that anyway.

Once you have covered your tape with your stamped image, trim off the excess. I suggest scissors for this part. While it is possible to tear the paper away, because Distress Stain and Ink have a slower dry time it is possible that your paper will be too wet and could tear.

Peel the backing off of your tape and adhere it to your project. This is what the sample piece I made looks like on white cardstock so you can see how the colors and image show up.

Isn't that awesome? The possibilities for your homemade Washi Tape are limited only by your imagination! I know you already know how fabulous This to That Tape is for holding your projects together but I hope this gave you another idea for how to use this awesome product! Until next time . . .

Hi, its Maryann again... here is a quick little tour of my Scrappy Place.

A few years ago we move into a wonderful little home, once owned by a man who "tinkered" in his basement. He had no use for the storage system and left it behind. My mom and stepdad refinished one year as a birthday present for me....

This little area is a place for me to scrap, craft and hang out....oh and do laundry....

I tend, however, to scrap more my lss or at crops so have "portable storage" is key for me. I picked these up a discount store, however I know I've seen them at Target...

Inspiration Friday with Kelly Holbrook

It's me again...I will be with you every Friday in the month of November to share some projects, and a little about me. Here are a few things that maybe you didn't know about me:

* I am mother to 5 gorgeous children, 3 of which I home school.

* I have given birth to all 5 of my kids at home with a midwife.

* My largest baby weighed 12 lbs, and 3 oz. ...Yikes :)

* My favorite TV show is Smallville, and now that it's done...I don't watch much television.

* My drink of choice is coffee, or if the mood hits, Dr. Pepper.

* There isn't a vegetable that I don't like.

Ok, enough of that...I had the privilege of working with Lily Bee's Harvest Market theme set, and everything that goes with it...

Aren't those little letters adorable? With the help of an exacto knife...you can get more precise placement.

I loved the colors from this product line...perfect for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or anything Fall.

Product Wednesday - Introduction

Happy November MemoryWorks friends! I am so excited to be back with you this month to share some great ideas, products and maybe a few inspiring things along the way. I don't know about you but I've had lots of changes over the summer. One of the big ones was moving! While it wasn't the most fun thing I've ever done I did get a little something special out of it. It's hiding behind this door:

I'm also super excited because MemoryWorks just released a new catalog and aside from being chock full of some of the best paper and embellishments I've seen in awhile, there were some fabulous new products added to the catalog and I can't wait to show you one of my favorites!
