Open Blog Day

My husband and I did a lot of camping over the summer.  We got to go to Camp Richardson in Lake Tahoe, Eagle Lake in Northern California, Yosemite National Park and Pismo Beach.  We are heading out again this weekend for the Labor Day Holiday, back to Lake Tahoe.  I thought it would be fun to make a backpack to represent our outings with a pocket to put a mini album in.  With the kids all going back to school you could use this for them as well.

I picked papers from the Simple Stories Happy Day Collection Kit, some Tim Holtz Ink for the edges and buttons from my exclusive MemoryWorks supply.  Using my die cut machine I cut the pieces out and assembled.

Pockets on the sides and straps just like a real backpack
It opens to add notes or a mini album
Even a sleeping bag
Such a fun project!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend!  I'm sure you'll be making memories to keep on scrappin'.

Open Blog Day

It's Lynn here popping in with some "back-to-school" card inspiration.  I made this set of mini-cards to have on hand when I need to send a thank you or little note of encouragement.

The patterned paper is from the new Authentique "Curiosity" 6 x 6 Bundle pad.  There are 36 sheets of double-sided paper.  You could make a ton of cards with this one pad.  Here is the set of 4 x 4 cards I created for school.
For a close up of each card you can visit my blog My MW Creations.  I just love the soft yellows/grey in contrast with the deep blue.  And of course, I love the shabby, vintage vibe!  Thanks for visiting the MemoryWorks blog today!

Express Kit Monday: Campout w/DT Day Two!

Hello, its Christine back again for our last August Express Kit Monday!  I know I have personally loved seeing all the fun things to do with this kit & have loved working with it.  The colors are SO fun!

Today, I am here to show some more projects that Jenn, Sheri and I did.  Last Monday, I showcased cards, this week I am showcasing layouts and altered items.

First up this week is Jenn.  I just love her mini album!  I love that she also showed that the layouts don't have to be outdoor or camping pages.

Next up is Sheri.  Sheri's layouts are always so amazing!

Last up is me, Christine.  I kept it clean and simple.  No surprises there, huh?

Well there you have it, I hope you enjoyed our projects and that we have inspired you to make some fall pretties too.

Blessings,

Card Crazy SATURDAY!

Happy Saturday!! Today I'm back with a few cards that I created by scraplifting some MemoryWorks Consultant's cards.

For both my cards today I used the NEW Simple Stories - Harvest Lane line. The first was simple to create!

To create my banners:
(1) Cut a strip of paper at the width and length you would like it.
(2) Fold one side at just the tip in half
(3) Cut down the center of the fold to were you want the indent to go to
(4) Cut from the corner down to the end of the snip on both edges.
My Card
Here is the inspiration card. This card was created by MemoryWorks Consultant Norhalma Verzosa. Thanks For the Inspiration Norhalma!! Love the card you created below.

Now, I couldn't just stop there. As I was looking through the gallery I saw more cards that really inspired me as well. I again used the Simple Stories Line - Harvest Lane.

This card below was my inspiration. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL! Consultant Megan Peacock created this card with the Simple Stories 25 Days of Christmas Line!

Creative Friday: Glimmer Mist

It's Caroline here again:) This Friday I chose a favorite Memory Works product and want to share it with you.  I bought a bottle of:

around 8 months ago and it's been sitting on my desk every since then.  Eeeek!!  I was scared to use it because it could potentially really mess up my layout or card.  So I challenged myself to use it and it's sooooo much fun and can add a really cool effect to your projects!!  Here's a layout and card I made using the glimmer mist (there are tons of colors to choose from) and Simple Stories Summer Fresh
Supplies Used: American Crafts Kraft Cardstock, Simple Stories Summer Fresh Collection, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Candy Red Apple, Sewing machine and thread

Supplies used: American Crafts Pool Cardstock, Simple Stories Summer Fresh Collection, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Candy Red Apple

A few tips about the mist:
*For bigger splats on your paper, hold the bottle closer to your paper.  For smaller splatters, hold the bottle farther away.
*It can be messy so be aware what's "around" your project.  It may get sprayed as well.  I just did mine outside to be safe.
*Practice on scratch paper so you can get used to the feel of the spray bottle and how far or close you want it to be on the paper.
*Shake the bottle really well first and HAVE FUN!!

Guest Designer Thurday - Sue Frazier

Hello! We are back for another week with the talented Sue Frazier. Today Sue has a super cute banner to share with us....

Hello again everyone!  I'd like to share a banner I made this week from the August Memory Works Express Kit.  The kit came with a cute little acorn chipboard album, but I decided to re-make mine into a banner!

I had lots of little pieces left over from the kit, so I used them on the banner.  I used leftover strips to make mini flags to go between the acorns.  I embellished the mini flags with buttons and leftover ribbons on pins....so cute!

I decorated the acorns themselves with leftover patterned papers and painted the backs plain green with some acrylic paint.  A few stickers, some trees and they were done! Tim Holtz distress brown ink sets off the edges and good old twine holds it all together!

Hope you all enjoyed this easy fall banner and decide to make one yourself!

Happy Fall to y'all!
Sue Frazier

Thanks so much Sue for all of the inspiration that you shared this month!

Challenge me Wednesday

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all enjoying the last few weeks of the summer. It's my turn to play around with this months page map. My iphone is not so great but I think you can see the direction I was going in. Everything was looking way too linear and symmetrical and neat. To solve this I drew a line around the 12x12 background paper in free hand with a gel pen. It's my version of artisitc.
