Creative Card Saturday
Today's card was actually inspired by one I did for a this month's challenge to Memory Works consultants. Here's the original card:
The paper is from Echo Park's Yours Truly 6x6 paper pad. The stamp set is from Recollections. The cardstock is by American Crafts.
Here is today's card:
I stayed with the easel style, and used the same paper pad. (I love the flexibility of these papers!) The cardstock is American Crafts and the stamp set is by Fiskars. (The ribbon and brad are from my stash.) I used permanent ink for the stamps and then colored them in using my water color pencils. The heart on the cup is filled-in with red Stickles.
Here it is with its envelope:
By the way, these cards measure 4-inches square when they are closed. That means they're actually too small to be sent regular post. You can easily adapt this style to a 5-inch square, which can then be posted at a slightly higher than standard rate.
Now for a special treat, here a couple of cards by our February guest designer Karen Siefert. Karen has been inspiring us all month with her beautiful projects and these are no exception.
To create this happy "hi" card, Karen used elements from the February Express kit, orange mini dot pattern paper from Simple Stories, accent cuts and boarder stickers from Crate Paper Random collection, and wooden buttons from Maya Road. She added her sentiment with a foam alphabet and finished up with a fun bit of bakers twine.
Her second card takes us to beautiful, sunny beaches (where I'd much rather be on this cold and blustery Saturday)!
Again Karen availed herself of the goodies in the February Express kit. The pattern paper is Basic Grey's Piccadilly Home Sweet Home, which she accents with a little pop of baker's twine. For the easy, breezy beach scene, she used the "It's All Good" by Unity (cat. no: US309).
Hope you have a fabulous and creative weekend!
Cheers!

Inspiration Friday

Sometimes I cringe when I start cutting up a pretty piece of paper, but I think it's the best way to get the most out of your patterned papers. On the other hand, MME has some beautiful papers that already have great design elements incorporated which make them a great base for your pretty layout. Here's what I created this week in between the doctor visits and breathing treatments!
And for my second layout I added some Maya Road brown mini rosette trim, trinket pins & pink resin blossoms, Canvas Corp white mini clothespins, burlap string, Scenic Route brown alphas (past Express Kit), Jillibean Journaling spot (Nov), Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Signo White Pen, white acrylic paint, Hero Arts chandelier stamp, pop dots, crochet flowers, butterfly, Marvy heart punch and Tim Holtz Adage Ticket.
Below, you can see that I used the negative heart shape from one of my punched heart banner pieces. I also used another negative heart shape as a mask for the lower right corner (shown above).
And how did I get that chandelier to look like that you ask? Simple! I gooped up my Hero Arts stamp with white acrylic paint, then pressed it firmly onto my paper. By pressing firmly, some of the paint was squeezed to the edge, creating some of the negative space and raised edges. Neat huh? Try it out on your next project. I bet black paint would look awesome on a light background too!
A couple quick cards with some of my scraps.

Amanda Bratu:
The title and handwritten journaling of Amanda's layout are truly sweet. The title gives great focus to her beautiful photo.
Amanda Rice:
Amanda's layout is so touching, it tells how the love of two became three. The hidden journaling and pocket envelope are a perfect touch!
Cindy Smith:
Cindy's layout includes beautiful colors and florals that capture her fun-loving photo and heartfelt sentiment.
Karen Seifert:
Karen is a talented card maker. I love the layering, patterns and colors used here along with the Unity sentiment stamp.
Kemi Forestieri:
Kemi's layout showcases the love for her adorable puppy Nina. Kemi used the February MemoryWorks express kit - simply adorable.
Thanks ladies, I've enjoyed seeing your inspiring projects on the Studio!

Creative Card Saturday
Hi Everyone!
Just thought I'd share a couple of cards with you.
The first combines three patterns from the Blissful 6x6 paper pad by Authentique with American Crafts cardstock. I printed the vintage french beehive on cardstock and added a little color with water color pencils. (The decorative brads are by Basic Grey, and "The Bees Knees" is from Echo Park's Times & Seasons collection.)
Here it is with a matching envelope, again made with AC cardstock and Bliss paper.
The second card is a simple "hello." The ingredients include: American Crafts cardstock, "Scrabble" letter stickers and newsprint paper by Echo Park (For the Record and Times & Seasons collections, respectively), all other paper is from Lily Bee Design's This & That collection. The vintage typewriter brad is from Pink Paislee's Vintage Vogue collection.
To get a grunge look for the background paper and flower, I spritzed the paper with a little glimmer mist, then crumpled and tore the paper while it was still wet.
Here is the card with its envelope.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Cheers!
