Happy New Year!! Cathie Hollins here wishing you a safe and happy new years eve. I'm wondering if any of you have any resolutions that you'd like to share. Typically I don't make resolutions but this year I have decided to really challenge myself in my scrapping and other papercraft projects. I want to learn some new techniques and bring my projects to a new level. I hope to inspire and help educate others with my projects.
I hope you have received lots of ideas and inspiration from the design team in 2012 and that you will come back to visit this blog regularly for more ideas and inspiration. I will be here all year long as will all of the other talented design team members and we will have some wonderful surprises for you along the way.
Here's wishing you a healthy and happy new year!

life {together}...A Simple Story....
Hi all! Just thought I'd share a little album I made for my husband and my 20th Wedding Anniversary.
I made the binder out of cardboard, and covered it in paper from Summer Fresh and Harvest Lane papers by Simple Stories. The stickers are also from those two lines. The bling is from my stash. (I colored the purple and red bling with Sharpies.)
The little spine label holder is from my stash. (I picked some up at my local supply store.)
Here's a look at the inside:

I added pockets and journaling cards from Summer Fresh. I have a lot more to do on the pages.
I hope you enjoyed my little book. Have a wonderful, peaceful holiday!

15 Days of the Holidays
Hi! Cathie here with day 15 of 15 Days of the Holidays. I've never done a December Daily before and I did not know where to start but once I got into the groove... it's been a blast. Last year I moved back to California after 15 years in Las Vegas and I am starting new Christmas traditions with my grandsons and having so much fun. Some things are the same such as, my Nativity is always out even if I don't put up a tree and day 15 is a photo of my Nativity.
I'm using a mix match of papers and embellishments for my December Daily. It is amazing to me how so many different lines work so beautifully together. I hope you enjoy today and are getting inspiration from all the Design Team members for you own December Daily.
This is the first page of my December Daily.
Merry Christmas to all!

15 Days of the Holidays: Recipe for Christmas

Wow, we're on day 14 already, that means it's only like 11 days till Christmas. Yikes! I have a ton of things to do! One story I've been wanting to tell in a mini album is the recipe for our family Christmas. This includes everything that makes our Christmas special. One key to making a mini album fast is to start off with an album that doesn't need pages covered. Another is to choose a limited palette of supplies. Here's how I started:
I grabbed a Jenni Bowlin Chipboard Journal, Authentique 6x6 paper pad and embellishment sticker sheet. To that I added some Lily Bee paper, kraft card stock and ink.
I did cover the front and back of the journal, inside and out:
I used the tab dividers to form three categories. I've added some photos since I am documenting Christmas in general, not a specific year. I printed photos in a smaller format to fit more per page and used kraft card stock to mat to calm things down. With all the colors in the photos I didn't want to go too crazy. I threw in a couple of Simple Stories pockets to hold journaling.
I kept the album really simple, using up as many scraps as I could. That's another good tip, stick to the basics and use up your scraps. No washi tape? Use a couple of paper scraps to imitate it. Paper not quite long enough, use the top edge scraps to fill in the space. I'll post a few more pix on my personal blog (http://frommypapercraftstudio.blogspot.com/) so you can see how I've incorporated some photos.
Merry Christmas and Happy Scrapping!

Guest Designer Thursday - Katie Skiff
After a little hiatus we are back with Guest Designer Thursday! Please welcome Katie Skiff, she has a whole bunch of talent to share with us!
My name is Katie Skiff, and I'm super excited to be this months Guest Designer. I've been scrapbooking since just before my 12yo son was born. I have been addicted ever since, even though the last few years my passion has been more in stamping and card making. I still think it's very important to document our life, and I hope that my albums relfect more of our life story than the artsy side of scrapbooking. I've been with Memory Works since 2007, as a hobbyist mostly. I love the Memory Works Express kits, and have used them for almost as many years.
I am anxious to share the creations I have made for you this month!!
