A Last Minute Gift Idea!

Today is scrapbook day! Each Wednesday my girlfriends and I get together to keep up on documenting events in our lives. One of my friend’s son is going to get married soon and we are hosting the bridal shower. We thought we would try to come up with a favor for the guests. Using items from the March MemoryWorks Express Kit, this is what I came up with.

I saw this idea for a notepad on a website (couldn’t remember where – sorry), so this is not a unique idea of mine, but I thought I would share how I created it.

I purchased notepads from a local store and took them to my local copy center and they cut them to be 2" x 8". I cut the cover for the pad to be 5" x 8 1/2".

I then cut a small piece of scrap paper to match the cover that was approximately 2" x 2". I used the Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch to one edge to create a border for the front of the pad.

I used the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper to trim the edges of the cover.

Then I scored the center of the card at 2 3/8" and 2 5/8" and created the center seam.

I used a Zip Dry Paper glue to adhere the pad to the cover and then embellished the cover with other items from the kit. (You need a strong adhesive to keep it in tacked).

These would also be great for a last minute gift for Mother’s Day, a make-and-take for National Scrapbook Day… the ideas are endless!

We found cute pens to go with each one and wrapped them in cellophane bags with a bow for each guest!

Creative Friday featuring Fancy Pants & 7 Gypsies Printers Tray

When I first saw these products in the MemoryWorks catalog, I knew I had to have them! I love using scrapbooking products to decorate my home, and what better way than with the Artist Printers Tray by 7 Gypsies.

To decorate the printers tray, I used the Fancy Pants- Roadshow Theme Set and Fancy Pants Journaling Cards- Roadshow and the Element Stickers.
These cards are a perfect compliment to the compartments in the tray. Trim them down to fit inside the compartments.

Using small black and white prints and a few in sepia tones, I decorated each card with the Fancy Pants Elements Stickers, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type Stickers, Stickles, Tim Holtz Adage Tickets and ColorBox Chalk Ink in Dark Brown.

Think of each compartment as a mini-scrapbook page- each with it's own theme and design elements. Use a small amount of addhesive so the cards do not fall out.

On several of the elements I used pop dots for added depth. You can add ribbon to decorate the outside of the tray. Here are a few close ups of the finished project.

This project would make a great gift for many different occasions. I hope you enjoy using your scrapbooking supplies to beautify your home as well!

Happy Scrappin!

Wendy's Corner - Week In the Life Camera Fun

"Wendy's Corner"
Week In the Life Camera Fun

Are you following along with Ali's challenge in capturing & documenting a week in your life?

So far, I have really enjoyed the week...I must say a few days have been challenging...remembering to have the camera & snap some pics for the day {along with bits of journaling} but I'm planning to stick it out to the end of the week. ;-)

Just those daily, random happenings on your home front, work place, out & about in life...just capture it on the cam and a few notes to document it all.

In this week's journal in my life, I'm learning how much I really do love photography.  It is an amazing art form. Something about getting out the camera and snapping pics is sometimes the perfect spark to a boring day, a blank scrapbook page, etc. Plus, playing around with your camera is a fun way to learn not only about photography and your camera, but also finding your style.

Here are a few pics I've snapped along this week....
(and also posted to my blog, ScrapNspire, with a few bits of journaling)

For me, I'm following Ali's approach in capturing the memories this week and putting it all together in a book next week. I'm choosing to use a mini book in putting mine together.

Here are some great options available from Memory Works in putting it all together:

Product Wednesday: 6x6 Paper Pads

I am thrilled with the recent addition to the MemoryWorks Catalog - 6x6 paper pads! These paper pads can be used for so many different projects including mini albums, cards, layouts and more! They are great because you get two pieces of each paper in that line. MemoryWorks carries 6x6 pads in a few different brands: Pink Paislee, BasicGrey and Cosmo Cricket.

Today, I'm going to share with you a few cards I made with the BasicGrey: Kioshi 6x6 paper pad. These cards are either 3x3 or 3x6.

Purchase a few coordinating embellishments to give your cards an unified look and the extra wow factor!

These cards are quick and easy to create, they would look great on a gift or just a simple hello card to a friend.
