Life is SWEET....celebrate!

Here's a peek at our fabulous new June 2009 MemoryWorks Express Kit!! (The new June 2009 kit will be displayed on the MemoryWorks Express website on June 1) We have had a HUGE response to this kit....everyone loves the bright colors and designs bursting with yummy goodness! I fell in love with these papers from Collage Press and just knew we had to have them in our next kit!!

Here's a few of the projects (including the altered tin above) I created with the materials - seriously so much fun. I would have played all night if I hadn't have been so tired and facing a looming deadline the next morning. :)

Here's the cards, layout and tag that Sue created:

Isn't it fabulous!! Okay...now for the bad news....we're already completely sold out for this month's kit and some of our new subscribers will have to be put on our waiting list for the next months kit. Due to the nature of our kit of the month program we buy and forecast our kit inventory months ahead...so we couldn't accomodate the influx of new subscribers we've had. So we invite you to still subscribe...even though you won't be receiving the June kit....you can still possibly receive the July 2009 kit and beleive me....you will not want to miss it!!

May 12th Make & Take

Last tuesday, Sarah Crawford posted her make & take project on the MemoryWorks message board. It is in the Creative Challenge forum for the May Creative Challenges. If you are not a consultant, no worries because I am going to share with you this fabulous CD Holder/Card.

"This week’s Make & Take project is a 6”x6” folded pocket card. You’ll feel like you’re making a paper airplane, but you’ll end up with a fun card with pockets to hold a cd, memorabilia, or whatever you’d like! It would make a great album class, too, if you make multiple “cards” and combined them to make a mini-album. You can make it as simple, or as elaborate as you’d like! I made this photo cd holder for my Mom for Mother’s Day using this technique.

The 6”x6” card requires the minimum following supplies:
-1 piece of double-sided patterned cardstock (or even just a sheet of Prism 12x12 cardstock would work)
-embellishments, as desired (I used paper, cardstock, and flower stickers from the April MemoryWorks Express Kit, plus a Tim Holtz adage ticket, a few American Crafts Thickers, and the American Crafts Sentiments Clear Stamp set.)
Tools:
-Paper Trimmer, preferably with scoring blade. Or, if not, a ruler and bone folder.
-Adhesive (wet and/or dry) -inks, etc, for embellishing as desired

1. Using paper trimmer with scoring blade (or ruler and bone folder), score 12x12 cardstock in half. (So, down the middle to make 6”x12” on each side.)
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 1
2. Then, rotate and score in the middle again, creating 4 6”x6” “sections”.
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 2
3. Fold down top two corners to center diagonally, creating a “house-shape”.
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 3
4. Turn over, so the point is facing downward
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 4
5. Fold point back to top, creating 2 diagonal pockets.
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 5
6. Adhere loose triangular flaps down (you can use wet or dry glue, it’s up to you)
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 6
7. Use tape runner along middle “seam” to make 2 diagonal pockets
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 7Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 7a
8. Decorate “cover” of card, as desired
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 8
9. Decorate “inside” of card, as desired
Sarah's Make & Take May 12th Step 9
To expand the card into a mini-album: create more than one “card”. Use binder rings or ribbon to “bind” the cards together (use a crop-a-dile to hole-punch several at once). Use lots of tags, etc, in album, to fill the pockets. The card itself costs only the price of a piece of 12”x12” cardstock –so this would be a great make & take for your next MemoryWorks event or party. You can make it as simple or elaborate as you want by providing scrap papers, inks, stamps, and other embellishments for your customers to try out as they “decorate” their card. Or, use these to share a cd of the new MemoryWorks catalog with your customers! "--Sarah Crawford

So go and create one, or more, of these cards. I have.:)

Let the creative juices flow!

Take the Challenge!

Mother Nature is definitely in full bloom this week on the MemoryWorks message board. We are starting the second week of creative challenges and preparing for our message board chat this Thursday May 14th, from 1-3 pm Central Standard Time. One of my favorite challenges so far is Sharon's "As Your Garden Grows" Photo Challenge. It encourages you to turn the dial on your camera past the auto mode into the realm of manual modes to capture amazing photos of flowers, birds and even a lawn chair or two. Be sure to join the photo scavenger hunt for a chance to win a prize package from MemoryWorks Home Office!

For the environmentally conscious scrapper we have not forgotten about you this month. We have several challenges that focus on being "more green"
Here TeamWorks member Susan Frazier altered a plastic bag to hold a darling mini album. You will have to read the message board to find out what was contained in that little plastic bag initially.

Starbucks would be proud to know that I recycled the coffee cup sleeve. A few months ago I made an artist trading card for a swap and then I "recycled" my idea for a challenge this month and made an invitation. For the scrapper who is watching their wallet these days, visit the message board and MemoryWorks Idea Gallery this week to see what I do with with my dollar store treasures. All projects will be $2 or less!!

Have a great week and don't forget to pencil in you day planner **MemoryWorks Chat Thursday May 14th 1-3 pm Central Standard Time** Brownie points if you add the little stars.

May's Ideas & Inspiration

This months Ideas & Inspiration projects were made by TeamWorks member Lacey Igo. These projects are just darling! The products used are from the Sassafras Lass Bungle Jungle line and are so cute. These products are great for showcasing your little one.

Isn't she lovely?

Mother’s day is just over one short week away - have you decided on that perfect gift? These days, it seems more important than ever to get the most out of your dollar while celebrating family ties. Instead of a pricey, generic gift what if we let this mother’s day take you back to your childhood? I’m willing to bet that your mom has a box of macaroni art and blurred, peeling, finger paint masterpieces. Of all the things you’ve given your mother, there's a good chance that it’s the gifts you gave from your heart that mattered most to her. Let this mother’s day be your opportunity to remind your mother how lovely she is to you, inside and out; make her a handmade card that celebrates your relationship like the one Allison Hammond created with Memory Works' new designer, Pink Paislee.

Visit the inspiration gallery at http://memory-works.com for product list and instructions, as well as countless other project ideas and inspirations.
Happy Mother's Day!

MemoryWorks Express Kits: They're not just for scrapbooks anymore!

I have been playing with the May Express Kit for the past few days and am totally LOVING the fun summery, citrusy accessories...um...I mean embellishments! I couldn't resist using a couple things out of the kit to "alter" my daughter: This little headband is SUPER easy to make - just sew a button and 2 layers of a Prima layered flower to the center of a ribbon, then sew 2 "leaf" shapes out of some green fabric scraps:

Tie it on:

And you've got yourself an instantly boutique-chic baby!
